Good morning all. An early call from fellow Kickrunners colleague Horrible Peanut, and we met up for a Saturday morning run around Dublin. It was dry, overcast, but warm enough, and we ran around the Ringsend peninsular, going close to the Waster Treatment Plant and the smell emanating (YucK!), that made us pick up the pace a little, but teh view once you round the head and turn back towards the mainland is worth it - The Dublin Hills, shrouded in low lying clouds, and Sandymount Strand glistening in the shafts of sunlight slipping through the clouds - The world of James Joyce brought to life on a run.

Mike and I ran around 7 miles, back along the quays and I dropped off allowing Mike to continue on for another 40 minutes or so. We ran together for 61 minutes, a good workout and good conversation - The best way to start a weekend.

Happy Running everyone.

Morning all. Went out for a nice run with Liam3494 except at one part of the run where he let out a really horribly fart which the smell made me wince tried to blame on the treatment plant we were running past or some other such rubbish!

he he he- just joking.
I ran for another hour after I dropped you off down to Sandymount beach and back up home through Embassy lane.

all in all 13.2 miles, 2:13:22 which is a very slow 10:06 minute mile average. I'm a fat and slow peanut.
HOWEVER- at least I got my legs back for training for the marathon. small victories

Laim/HP How cool that you guys got to run together. Sounds like a lot of fun.
15 hard, bloody miles this morning. Last week I did 21 and felt great. Today I felt awful the whole way and around mile 10 I fell on some uneven pavement. Scraped up my knee, shoulder and wrist. I think it's all superficial so hopefully I'll be up to my long run next week. I think I'm down to 7 weeks until my race. I just need to not get injured! I really think my body was still recovering from the 21 last week. I had a very active week and I think I just didn't recovery as well as I thought I did. Going to be easy pace this week and hope for the best.

ouch kruss -- I hope you just have a bit of road rash and it's not too painful.

I did 13.25 miles this morning on -- what else -- dead legs. One of these days I'll have a great run, though, I know it. I did appreciate the breeze and much less humidity today.

I got out for a 9 miler shooting for my planned marathon pace (9:00 - 9:45) (SF Marathon in just over a week) and ended up doing 9.15 in 1:28 which is 9:42, but if you deduct the ~4 min at the gatorade stop, my avg pace was 9:11.

It was a muggiliscious morning humidity was up to 64% and temp got up to 80*. I think I was swimming part of the way.

Splits were 10:00, 9:31, 9:40, 9:04, 9:14, 13:18 (gatorade stop), 9:54 (took some effort to start running again), 9:13, 8:50 for a fast finish.

Based on my last long run, (and 2 prior marathons) I know I can make the distance next Sunday, and based on today's pacing test, I think 4:15 is within my reach which would be a big improvement over my current PR of 4:49.

Only excitement I had was when I saw some dogs loos ahead and turned around to take another route. I hate the number of loose/wild dogs in my area lately. Too many owners won't keep their pets under control and it makes me crazy.

Kruss - 21 last week could be it, but also a million other factors - Sleep - Nutrition - Hydration - Or maybe your body was just having an off day. I would vote that a lot of tough runs are caused by hydration / nutrition issues. But on the other hand - most the times I fall (Except Winter) is when I am just really fati gued from too much running.

Well Although I am on vacation - Stopped by work (We don't actually leave until tomorrow)

16 easy miles today -
1st 8 = 1:03:15
2nd 8 = 58:32

I think it felt easy enough not to let the 16 on a recovery day interfere with tomorrow long run ... but we will find out @ 4:30 tomorrow morning.

It was a really good day. At the New England Masters Track & Field Championships, I got 3rd place in the Men's 45-49 100 Meters, running a 13.39 good for 3rd place - and it was my fastest in 10 years!.

Also, in the long jump, I jumped over a foot farther than last week, going 15' 1" for 6th place. My longest in 30 years!

Yes, I am different.

Kruss, it is no fun falling. I am still healing from my fall several weeks ago I still have a big lump and scabs on my leg.
