8 miles in total this morning - 4 were part of a race. Kept to the plan of a 3 mile w/u EASY, 4 mile race at 10:30 pace (ended up at 10:20 pace) and an EASY 1 mile c/d. Happy with the effort today, 8 miles in the bank is a SOLID deposit.

3:12 hour trail run on the Skyline Trail of Blue Hills Reservation with my TransRockies mate. Should have covered about 13 miles or more but he only had 11.5 on his GPS. Either way, miles don't matter; time on feets does. And it was over three hours worth in some dry heat. Good fun. Great run for us. We're dialing in our "working" pace pretty good. Trail was very technical with many "hill" crests, almost all of which were completely un-runnable.

10K race for me. New timing company had trouble getting results posted, but hopefully they should have it figured out later today. This race has traditionally been a 5K, but this year they added a 10K as well. It seemed like most people did the 5K, as there were very few in front of me when the 10K course turned off. The 5K was mostly flat, whereas the extra 3.1 miles of the 10K were very hilly. I ended up running most of the race with the first place woman, who was probably 30 years younger than me and a little better kick at the end. I think I may have placed pretty well unless there were some very fast people way off the front. Kinda bummed they couldn't announce the award winners as this is the second race this year where something like this has happened. They announced the unofficial overall winners, but wouldn't even let them have their awards until the official results are posted. No age group winners were even announced.

Warm/low 70s - Sunny and calm. Alex Hoag 10K race. Very hilly course in the Stetson Hills area, starting and finishing at Sky Sox Stadium. Solid effort. Results haven't been posted yet so the time could be off a few seconds. Not sure where I may have placed, but I ran with the 1st place woman for most of the race.

1.2mile OWS. A beautiful morning for a swim in a lake. I swam the last 0.4mile with my K-Swiss light running shoes in my shorts and ran back to the beach. Worked well, though about 45sec. slower without them. It felt the shoes created some buoyancy but also pushed out my tri shorts, catching water. Haven't decided yet whether wearing socks or not at the Waterloo. I have run ~2.5miles in the wet shoes but not sure if I could do 3~4miles repeatedly.

me 40mile ez ride w/ one of my original mentors in the sport. Was pretty cool. He was just restarting after 4 weeks off due to a cardio scare, the other guy has been in the sport 28 YEARS, and then there was little old me. I held my own and stayed in Z2. I was friggin thrilled.

Great efforts today everyone!

Me: 15 mile ride, hammy felt good, I've lost a lot of fitness in the past few months as indicated by my high level of huffing and puffing up a few challenging hills and feeling as though I had ridden 40 miles instead of 15. It will come back...eventually.

Haven't posted here in a while. Still doing the multisport crazy stuff. Got some bad news yesterday. Only think I could think to do--find a race! Found one up in my home town. Trail 5K. Uh, I don't do trails... Oh well, fun time was had. Numbers pretty disappointing, but managed to keep my streak alive and snagged 2nd AG. Afterwards, Sapphire and I went for a spin. Wasn't really into rediscovering routes, so stuck with a 5m loop which included riding up the side of the reservoir. Heck, hill repeats were the plan for hte day anyway! Not sure how to "grade" the hill, but coming back down I easily got to 30mph. Nice little 21m spin. Stopped by Grandma's and took her out for ice cream. Not a bad day!
