Good morning kicksters.

A great morning for a half marathon. Currently 48 degrees out and cloudy so it isn't going to warm up a whole lot until it is over. The plan is to run a progressive race. Starting at 8 min mile and increase by 5 seconds for each mile thereafter until I can't go any faster. I would expect I should run somewhere around a 1:40 or so. But hey, if all goes south and I break completely down, all is ok. It is a free local race so nothing lost.

Happy training everyone!

Dave - good luck and have fun at the races

Looking out the window wondering if I want to run and if so how far. Probably just a 5'er. Currently, it's a sunny and breezy 35F

Good luck on the HM Dave!

Long run day for me and 14 is the magic number. Looks like a great day to go long around here, with weather conditions similar to Dave's. Think I'll finish up breakfast and head out soon.

What a great race this morning. I finished each mile slightly faster than the goal pace for that mile with the exception of mile 13. I will put a race report up shortly.

Dave- good luck w/ the 1/2, i'm looking to do a 'fun' HM this fall

RA- I'm sure you'll post later that you ran 10-12. Just get out there

Hawk- Hope the 14 goes well

11 was the number for me today. A tad too fast for an easy long run, but when I slowed down my legs and pace felt clumsy. Todays run gives me 8 straight, and after looking through my past years logs yesterday, that is a PR by 2 days.

Now I gotta get to DSs BB game.

Dave -- Fantastic job on the negative split/progression HM. Beautiful execution.

RA -- Nice job on the windy run.

Hawk -- Hope the 14 goes well. Nice long run.

BBS -- Know what you mean. Sometimes "easy" pace just feels weird. And keep the streak alive.

Me -- Lots going on with family and work. I'll make it to the gym for a swim/run session a bit later.

Ended up trying out a new route today that was nowhere near 14...only 10.8, so I picked up the pace once it became clear this was going to be shorter than planned. After 2 slow warmup miles, ran at about a 7:50 clip the rest of the way. Then I used the extra time to work on some core. Indoor track meet tomorrow morning so I won't fret about the lower mileage.

Started the morning with a meeting that did not go well at all. Left me totally defeated with nuthin' in the tank for a run. But, yesterday I got looking at a marathon training plan, figuring I'd have plenty of time to get started. Uh, it's a 16 week plan. I'm like 12 weeks out. See a problem??? So long run it was. I headed to the lake to run circles lest I need to quit. Run went reasonably well. Took a break after lap 6 (m7) to shed and get a drink. No way was I up to two more laps, so opted to hop on the bike path for the final 3m. Finished just short of 10, so kept going until I hit the magical double digit. 10.03m, 1:28:01, 8:46pace

Dave, just read your report. Great job!

And 4BM - I ran Philly a little less than 2 months ago on exactly 11 weeks of training, and requalified for Boston. You can definitely train for a marathon on 12 weeks and as long as you are smart of race day still have a great result.
