Go racers! Tammy, Pear Blossom trivia: I saw a pic of Leonard Nimoy once at the Pear Blossom festival, appearing of course in costume as Mr. Spock.

The short version of my tour: I had a great time and even though there was significant hillage, I passed quite a few people. Of course, I was passed by the lead pack of the 50-milers, who started first, and that was a little intimidating because they were so intense & just flew by in a very tough stretch of the course we shared. Thought it would take me about 2 hours so I was pretty close. Pancakes at the end and a massage. What can be better? http://connect.garmin.com/activity/78105497

nice Opie! very nice!

I've never heard of that Pear trivia before. that is interesting. thanks!

Pear went well for me today. 1:28:33 was my time to beat from last year. mission accomplished! I don't know my official time, but I think the clock said 1:26:31 when I crossed.

my splits were good and I was happy to see how consistent I was because I never looked at my garmin while running, until I hit about the last 1/4 mile or so.

This course is relatively flat, although miles 4 through 6 or so has a few rollers that are noticeable. I was happy that in the final 100 m or so to the finish line, I had something left in me to sprint it and pass 3 people in front of me.

Wow Tammy, those are great splits! My 5k went well, and I ended up with a PR, even though I felt I was conking out at the end. 26:48, and I'm quite pleased.

Congrats Tammy!!

I haven't been running much, ok at all lately. Today I did the Pearblossom 5K which I completely planned on walking (since that is what've I've been doing lately, a lot of walking & Elliptical here & there). My husband did it with me (his first one), and there I was waiting for it to start & I say to him, "We are running right?" lol I figured I'd end up doing a runwalk... not sure of my official time, and really it doesn't really matter. I was happy to be out there & able to run. Have a feeling I'll be working this neck injury thing out, damned if I do, damned if I don't.. might as well do it then. :D

Erika, I'm sending you some sunshine and warm temps. You got to get off that TM!

12 miles this morning, 8:29 avg pace, but so much better than last week. I'm enjoying this slacking-off period. With the first round of golf planned for tomorrow, I won't get a run in, leaving me with a weekly total of 37 miles.

Happy Saturday everyone

I had overcast skies and a chilly breeze for my 12-miler until the sun came out in the last mile...suddenly I thought I'd die of overheating all in the last 5 minutes! It was crazy....so not used to running on a sunny day yet.

I meant to keep my pace "easy" around 11 mpm. It's hard to keep it even, especially with a hilly route. Most were between 10:50 and 11, one was 10:30, and three were between 11:10 and 11:20. I did not feel mentally ready for the run, but it went fine. The scenery as always was lovely to look at and I had no real problems other than being tired.

ETA: Tammy, OM, and Linda, you all did Fantastic today - great jobs!!

I just figured out I shaved off 38 seconds from my 5k time that was on January 1st. Compared to the 5k I did back in May of 2009, with a time of 31:16. So yeah, definitely showing improvement. Though when you start that low, there's nowhere else to go but up! :)

Great running and racing everybody!!

I went to watch the local track team compete (about 50 miles away) and got in a hilly run before the meet. It was mostly the route of a 15 mile race I ran a couple winters ago. The race is two loops and I ran one but I ran a little there and back also. First run with my garmin so when I got finished, I tried to get my splits and it only gave me one. 9.0 miles 65:37 (7:17 pace). After scrolliing through all the options, I realized I just told it to beap every half mile, but not to record splits every half mile. Of course I couldn't hear it beep either as I was listening to AC/DC during the run!!
