Up and at 'em

Race day. Race starts @ 10:00 a.m., hourly forecast is showing 49* and mostly sunny. Sounds good to me. Not sure what to expect, this is really just a 'see where I am' race. I've placed in my AG here the previous 2 years, so maybe I can come home with some hardware.

Watch me finish here! http://moveitmemphis.racesonline.com/index.cfm?fuseaction=site.display&page_id=4588

I went ahead and picked up me and my buddy's packet last night so we won't have to deal with it today. Weird timing chips, foam looking things on the back of the Bib #s. They also are starting a new thing this year where they text your time to your cell phone when you finish. Not sure how well all of this is going to work.

Good luck out there.

If anyone does get a chance to watch, I guess it might help to tell you what to look for! BIB# 99, Black long sleeve Tech T w/ Breakaway Running logo on front, grey shorts, black beard. Can't miss me. If I get to start up front, I should be finishing around 10:20ish, probably more like 10:21ish.

Me - 1:20 on the spin bike. Yeah! I am so ready to get on my bike. I don't enjoy the spin bike at all. But do what I gotta do.

Happy training everyone.

BBS--good luck!

David--with the dedication you have with the drainer and dreadmill, you are gonna nail your IM.

Nothing yet for me. Lazed in bed forever this morning. Just getting moving. Need to knock out a 15 today. Also need to get some signs made for Last Chance for Boston, where Mailboxhead and a friend of mine are racing tomorrow.

BBS- Good luck.

I have the finish line link up for BBS and there should be people crossing it in about 13-14 minutes depending on how fast the runners are.

It snow about 3 inches or so last nigh which made it a fun run today. Was scheduled for 8, but with the road conditions I opted for just 5. 5 miles n 45:17. Enjoy the morning everyone.

Today was 6m with TNT group. Great group of peeps and really enjoying running with a group. The start early am and it gets my up and out the door. Still not liking the shoes, so will probably get another pair & go back to what works.

I had the Race Judicata 5k and 10k this morning. Every year a bunch of us run the double. The 5k is at 8am and the 10k at 9am. You get a special extra if you run both. Last year it was a beach towel, and this year it was a running skull cap.

Anyway, it's an extremely hilly course--the same park that the Flying Monkey goes through. I totally wrecked myself on the 5k, and was pleased that I survived the 10k. 23:57 and 51:18; second in my age group on both races.

Can't wait to hear how it went BBS. Have a great day, all.

Hi, all.

Got out for the first time in three days today and was a little out of sorts. Just no energy today. Three miles, but two walk breaks in the midst of it. Forgot to take my blood-pressure pill but the real culprit is bloated eating the past couple of days. Time to get back on track.

Good runs, all

Thanks 'erbody

Official time was 21:01, just missed the sub 21, but still managed to grab 1st place in my AG. Buddy of mine had a great race as well and just missed out on 3rd place in our AG by seconds. I'm pretty happy with my race, 2nd mile was a tad slow, but it was the hilliest part of the race, so I can say it was basically balls out.

Mile 1- 6:25

Mile 2- 6:48

Mile 3- 6:40

.1 avg- 6:24

Jebba- Nice job out there today!!

Jebba and BBS--nice racing!

Finally got out for my run. Numbers were all over the place. Total 18laps. Looks like I died on laps 5-9, then picked it up again. One stop after lap12. Total 15.03m, 2:10:22, 8:40pace. Seeing that 8:20 is race pace, I am quite happy with the total.

On the way home I stopped by the grocery store. I had changed shirts after my run and thought I was good to go for a quick trip. In the check out lane, I realized my pig tails were dripping sweat. Maybe that's why I was getting funny looks?

Looks like I got caught up in the double Saturday thread thing earlier.

Talk about a role reversal today...I'm wishing DW luck on her long run today and then she leaves and I go out for a little jog.

4 miles done this afternoon...46 and windy but at least it was sunny. Very easy for the first three. Then in the final mile I threw in 4 x 30 second pickups at race pace with a minute jog between each. I'm as ready as I can be for tomorrow morning, even though it's not an "A" race. If anything it's a dry run for the target races that come later in the season.

Jebba and BBS, nice racing. Both very good results for early in the season.

Nice running everyone!
