On this day in 1923, in Thebes, Egypt, English archaeologist Howard Carter enters the sealed burial chamber of the ancient Egyptian ruler King Tutankhamen
http://www.history.com/this-day-in-h...ticle&id=52404

And, I completed my longest run in a very long time, ~6 miles. Went out with Matt and 3 friends. It was fun running with a group. Thankfully my legs bounced back from last night's trainer ride, and we went pretty slow.

Brisk but sunny day here in New England. The temperatures dipped to well below 20F, and the wind is all-too-in-your-face making it feel colder, but somehow, after a solid two weeks of snow, rain, sleet, repeat, the sun feels very warm and is very welcome!

In fact, just this week, in the early mornings, I've noticed the birds singing their tune. It always seems nicer this time of year when winter is holding on by a thread, almost as if the birds are announcing in advance the oncoming of spring.

Beth: Awesome. 6+ miles in good company makes it feel more like 2. And to ramp it up! Nice to see the focus returning.

13 mile run early this very chilly morning. The Warden's Husband and I kicked it off leaving from my house; 3.5 miles out we picked up two others. Within another half mile we had collected our 6 bitches for a leisurely stroll over to my favorite hill. Just so that our ladies wouldn't get out of line, the Warden's Husband and I stuffed ourselves in the very back so that we could keep eye -- and be sure to not push the pace. Broke away for a bit to run my favorite hill twice and then a little tempo action to catch up. Solid run. Went by very quickly with the good company.

this afternoon - 90 min recovery ride. Legs still heavy from brick on Thurs. Apart from being knackered the weather is great again here. cool (at about 6/7 degrees) but very bright and sunny. Great day to be outside doing something.

[I always thought Carter opened the tomb on Nov 26, 1922!! Reason I remember the date is that it's 50 years to the day before my birthdate. Wiki confirms you are correct - 16th Feb the day he entered the tomb - novemeber 26 was the day he started to breach the doorway!! you live and learn ]

I hit the trainer for a planned intense session at noon, but it wasn't meant to be. I spent as much time messing with the trainer as I did riding. The whole time, I couldn't get my HR up, but I did my best. Probably do some yoga later on this afternoon.

Getting ready to head out for a ride. Beautiful sunny day. Bit chilly, but with enough layers, it'll be fine.

6.5 miles on a beautiful, beautiful morning! Around 30 degrees F, no wind and sunny, sun, sun!!! And Thor- I listened to the birds singing, too, this morning. Delightful!!! It was a very slow run as I was coaching several new runners. For one, it was her longest run ever, and she was very proud. Made me feel very happy to help her get there!

I Have A 8 Miler Scheduled After Work. I Am Kind Of Nervous About It. Its The Same Distance I Was Going Back In August When I Hurt My Ankle And Had To Limp Home. It Was Supposed To Be A Group Run But I Couldn't Get Off Work To Make It This Morning.

2 hours on the trainer in my sneakers because I forgot my bike shoes. My feet and legs hurt like hell. Followed by a 5 mile run which totally sucked because I biked for two hours in my sneakers.

I really need to pack my bag at night. Duh!!!

It was just really nice to be outside in the sunshine despite the biting cold and the wind. Some places where it was sheltered the sun felt nice and warm but then you'd come around a corner or down a hill and that NW wind would give you almost an ice-cream headache as it hit the sweat on your forehead.

Me: 7.1mi LSD o-u-t-d-o-o-r-s!.

Boyerdavea: holy carp, dude. That is seriously fast.

BethR: My run today was my longest of the year too. Nice job.

Great race Boyerdavea!

Me: 2 hour 30min run, a bit over 18 miles. Still a bit cold here, too much negotiating ice patches. Made for a tougher run. People need to learn how to use their shovels! Got on the street whenever possible. Another storm watch for tonight, freezing rain/snow

Have a great weekend!

I normally don't post on this thread but today was so glorious I had to. Got to ride outside for the first time since October. It was amazing and I can't believe how much on a high I feel. Just did 20 miles but it was pretty hilly and tons of fun. I was just so excited to be outside.
