On this day in 1895, the first college basketball game was played as Minnesota State School of Agriculture defeated the Porkers of Hamline College, 9-3.

Neil: Tough stuff over your former Tri-club. Politics suck. Why can't we all just get together and log a few miles? I can't figure it out either. We have a similar issue going on with our clubs right now, as LRR mentioned in your other thread. Regardless, let me know if you decide to do NYC Marathon. I might have to grab a number then too! We'll be in touch again soon, as soon as the Ironmate gets me those files for the logo and as my London trip nears. It would rock to see you out there. Doesn't have to be during the marathon either, as that might actually be too crowded and quick. Either way, we'll be in touch.

Me...

14 mile run early this very chilly morning. Started with temps near 15F, got to the meeting point only to see no one. Back tracked on their path... still no one. That's when I realized that I miss calculated their distance to the meeting point. I had them at 2 miles, the same for me. So I left my house even later expecting with my pace that I'd see them at the meeting point. No such luck. After the back track I was then behind by probably over a mile. I got on my horse and started hauling. Took until just before Sagamore at about 7 miles to catch them, just in time to do the hill twice and then settle in for some easy miles with good conversation. Missed LRR. Hopefully he'll be back soon.

Scheduled rest day for me today - After work will be watching France beat Ireland at Rugby France seem to be Ireland real boogie team no matter how well we play we still mess it up against Les Bleus and we are not playing very well at the minute

Its Wales v Scotland at the minute - half time and Wales are 10-6 ahead - about the only good thing with this game is the singing - The rugby is shocking mistake after mistake - But the songs of both the Welsh and Scots are worth listening for alone

Have a great weekend My Tri Team

6 miles, 3 at tempo pace this beautiful, beautiful morning. 37 degrees and sunny makes for just about perfect running weather, IMO. Felt good, good, good!

rode to the legendary (or semi-legendary) boxhill, climbed it, came home. Nice view at the top of the hill. Not that tough of a climb.

forgot to say:

went to the Tri-Expo at Sandown Park earlier. I got some 2XU race shorts and top; and got measured for a Snugg wetsuit (made to measure it will be ready mid march). I'm not kidding - you could blast a hole on your credit card at this place from which you might never recover!! There were some bikes to die for. i had a sweat on just wandering round...

2.5 hours trainer ride this morning followed by a 3 mile run. Practiced my nutrition for the bike/run and felt good throughout. I even feel pretty good now so I'll keep tweaking this combo. I tried Endurox post run so will see if that makes a difference tomorrow.

Now it's down to the serious business of making french toast with DS and then I think I'll take Bella out for a couple of hours.

Pete The last Time I climbed Box Hill I got stuck in the big ring in the front and ended up grinding my way up it - If felt tough that day -- well done on the ride - Lots more hills needed before Monaco

Quick Rugby Update

Wales 30- Scotland 15

France 26-Ireland 21 Ireland looked dead and buired just after halftime when the score was 26-6 to France but a massive comeback was just thwarted in injury time and France held on for the win (Just) - A much better performance from Ireland

I hit the roads for a run this afternoon. An hour-ten, for about 14km. Felt pretty good, although a bit sluggish at times. My big coup today was finding a brand-name, long-sleeved cycling jersey for Euros 10.50! I was pretty pumped! I'll try it out tomorrow - another warmer and sunny day.

Shoot for three, tri folks!

Go Ireland. I don't know if there would be anything worse than losing to France though. Is there a separate team for Northern Ireland or is ROI and NI represented by the same team? (Sorry if this is a really dumb and not PC question).

Thor: thanks for the shoutout the other day. I almost missed it in my rush.

Me: 25min body sculpt followed by 45mi yoga. This workout leaves me feeling amazing.

Last long-ish run of 10 mile before the thon with a friend. Some fresh snow on the road but she took me some nice route and time flew by quickly. Feels like the drinks I had (a few too many) this week still haven't left my body yet......A combination of taper and decompression from the meeting is to blame. I haven't drunk this much since the college days...and that is many many moons ago.

The first spits of snow from an approaching storm begun as the M-Dawg and I headed out for a mid-afternoon rehab run. Started tentatively - being careful to keep my foot straight rather than in its usual outwardly turned position. First mile was very hesitant but my 2 or 3 I was worried more about my lungs than my knee - two weeks off will kill ya! Finished with four miles and a muddy/snowy dog making a mess in the house. Knees a bit stiff but... It's all good!

LRR you'll be back in no time, no worries. Be careful not to force the foot in too far, too fast. Is this a chronic issue? I went through PT for that happy to share

Me, decided to abuse myself. Was tired of being sick from yesterday and slept great and felt great so decided to hit the 1/2 mary course I'll be doing in March. Workout was w/up then 2 loops, negative split by 10% :-0

First loop was 53, Second 48 - so missed 10% but I'll cope. 250ish ft climb per loop.

Drove home, hoped on trainer for 60min. My legs are a bit trashed, as 110cadence drills were hard at a measly 50 watts. Wow.

Maybe it was because I was freakin FROZEN. Yea, polar bear ron. Temps were 28 but the winds up there were 20 gusting 35. Not sure what the converts to but I tell you COLD. 2 layers of gloves is almost unheard of for me... and needed today. Large number of runners out braving the cold today!

time to go poke around in the kitchen and see if my bday lasgna is ready I wanna EAT I figured after burning over 3000 calories I can indulge and nobody's telling me otherwise

Ronbo--I am STARVING and lasagna sounds really good!

Nice little spin for us this afternoon. Son's maiden voyage this season, and with new shoes. Size 44. Up two full sizes from last season. We rode along the river. Quite high in some areas. One place the water was on the birm. Got to the end of that road and discovered the road was actually closed because of high water! 25mph crosswinds, certainly glad we only had to eat the wind in short sections. Son held up very well, considering he hasn't ridden since Sept. 18.5m, 1:16, 14.6mph.

I accidentally posted this in the wrong thread earlier, but son will be needing a new bike soon. We might have the option of buying an older steel Pugeot. Thoughts? Should we keep looking? Son is 15yo. He shot up 4+inches last year (5'4" to 5'9", outgrowing his current bike in one season. Can we expect him to outgrow his next bike just as quickly?
