Beautiful day for running in Atlanta this morning. Had a pace group run at 8:00 this morning at Ansley Mall. Temps at 40 degrees, but sunny and warming up quickly. I was very comfortable running in shorts and short sleeve shirt.

I'm the pacer for the 2 1/2 hour half marathon group and our final pace run was this morning. The marathon/half is March 20. The group had an option for a 10 or 13 mile run. They started out only wanting to do the 10 but fortunately I took the 13 mile route along with me just in case. At mile 8 they all decided they wanted to do 13 miles instead so we did.

About 2/3 of the run was on the actual Georgia Marathon Course, going through Piedmont Park, the Georgia Tech Campus, and passed by the finish line at Centennial Olympic Park. A few of the runners had never ran the course before so I pointed out the trouble spots and the easier spots along the course for them. Publix had food, drinks and coffee after the run.

Nice job, GR.

I had the Race Judicata 5k and 10k this morning. Every year a bunch of us run the double. The 5k is at 8am and the 10k at 9am. You get a special extra if you run both. Last year it was a beach towel, and this year it was a running skull cap.

Anyway, it's an extremely hilly course--the same park that the Flying Monkey goes through. I totally wrecked myself on the 5k, and was pleased that I survived the 10k. 23:57 and 51:18; second in my age group on both races.

Reb, 2:30 marathon?? As a pacer? Wow. What can you do when you're really running?

Well, I try to be modest about my marathon times. I assume everyone runs 2 1/2 hour marathons. I corrected my post to the 2 1/2 hour half marathon.
