Happy December!

My run this morning was 10 miles. Three buddies joined me for the first 6 and we chatted away, then I headed out and back for another 4. It's a perfect sunny day in the 40s here. I wore 2 extra warm layers and kept gloves/hat on the whole way in case the slightly warmish forecast for the race next week sticks. I know I cannot "acclimate" but by running too layered up, I can mentally prepare at least.

Nice runs, SGH and Flounder. I've got my fingers crossed for good marathon racing weather next Sunday for SGH. I'm going to run some trails in Auburn, CA, later today.

My tentative plan is to build base during Dec and Jan, and I hope to run as many times as possible in the next 62 days!

Probably the only time I'd ever beat Flounder, too!

Good luck, Alex!

18 miles this morning. I was not mentally with it today, so I ran most of it with someone from my running group. She's slower than me, so I ran one minute per mile slower than normal, but I would not have finished the run alone. I did the first 6 alone, then took a water/potty break before we headed out together. We took another break at 12 miles. Mostly a sunny day, but we did run through snow flurries for a few miles.

16-miles in 2:37:40. Rain, windy, cold 34°F and pulled the heck out of my left calf. Bailed on the run after mile 16 ended up being a limping 11x. Don't think I hurt it seriously. Tomorrow's another day, I guess.

Horribly disappointed with the race that was in absolutely horrid conditions. 1* wind chill with 15mph winds and snowing. I could feel the winds in my face or blowing against me for about 8 of the 10 miles. Never felt smooth or comfortable because my feet slipped on each touchdown. That also led to extremely sore hammies/quads. First 5 in 32 something, second even slower. Made a little over one of my goals.

-got top 10 (10th)
-medaled (but it was 3rd...stupid SPASH kids decided to show up)
-wasn't even close to sub 60 (1:06:54)

Time to start training for track I guess...hopefully snowshoeing helps me as much with running as I think it will, but I'm gonna be very fast if I can only snowshoe. With all the snow we got about 4 inches today, so normal running will be quite difficult.

Where are you with all the snow Alex? Sounds like upstate NY or something!

Snow flurry early this morning in Western MA where I was for a 5k race. FREEZING wind (gusts up to 30mph). Numb toes before the race!

Ran the race in 24:09 (7:47). Happy with it, better than last year on the same course. Also did @1/2 mile warmup and the same cooldown. Plenty of celebrating post-race!

Ya it's done snowing now, but in place of that is mini iceballs. Oh great...guess tomorrow at work will be spent shoveling instead of stocking shelves.

HAHAHA! DOOH! And *snort*! I'm a dufus sometimes. I'll blame it on my being tired, and that post-race celebrating that lasted oh, about 7 hours.

Shoveling is good cross-training!

Winter races are hit or miss on the weather - A good workout never the less. We go a litle more than 7 inches - I was glad I was not able to race that one with you Alex.

40 minutes on Arc Trainer + Weights + Core added to the run
