Morning folks

I'm up early again today. I really don't know if getting out there earlier is any better since the humidity is soo much higher, but, I'm gonna head out as soon as the sun starts lightin' things up for 10 (hopefully).

3 was tuff yesterday. Legs just never woke-up. Me and DS had a pretty good time on the trails tho, wasn't much running (maybe 100 yards or so) But we walked about 2 miles and crossed 5 bridges, which he thought was cool.

Happy Birthday Kevin. Is it Rob's B-day as well or did I mis-read?

Good morning! My knee feels funny, under the kneecap. It doesn't hurt to walk or run, just walking down stairs, or the act of sitting down. Any ideas? I think I'm going to go out and get new shoes today.

Today I'll eother rest or do a short recovery run. If I get new shoes, I'll probably want to run.

Dan- Good luck with the run

Jebba- Not sure, hope the new shoes help tho

Man, What a difference the weather makes! 73* and only 78% humidity, nice cool breeze. Watch said I started out slow in the 9's (didn't really feel like it tho) and ended up running mile 10 at 8:20 for an average of 8:40. Best run I've had since before the Nashville HM. I felt like I could have ran all day today. Wasn't really tired at all at the end. And to think that I almost died doing an easy 3 yesterday.

HAPPY BIRTHDAY KEVIN!

Nice job Dave and BBS.
Dan have a good one out there.
Jebba - I agree with Dave re shoes.

I'm back at the car dealer because they are stupid and "fixed" the wrong tire pressure sensor... had a nice walk along the lakefront to break up the wait. May take DD out in the BOB later.

Thanks for the Birthday well wishes everyone. Today was a slow 8.3 miles in 1:15:39(9:06). My legs are now done for. Going up to snowbird ski resort today to do the zipline, alpine slide, ride the tram etc.... It should be fun. Nice job on all the workouts this morning.

RA - Best thing that ever happened to my car was the warranty running out. Found a mechanic that does much better work.

Kevin - Have fun up there!

Well, that was as un-easy as I thought it would be but, it's done. Off to work.

Hey all, I just back from my long run of 16 a few minutes ago. It was warmer and
more humid than I was expecting because I got out the door a little late (
10:15 or so) thanks to some early morning GI distress. Thankfully I got that
out my system. The run was easy, mostly pleasant but very slow, 9:05/
mile.

It was the longest I've run since Boston but it's humbling to realize how
much work I have to do to get back to where I was back then. Wilson Bridge
Half Marathon 9/19 will be my mid-term exam for NYC. Oh boy.

Nice running all and happy b-day Kevin!

Trotted (sorry Hawk) around the neighborhood with DD in the BOB for 4 recovery miles. Now I'm nice and tired for my longest run (18 miles) since Boston. I've been slacking off the longer runs simply because my hips were messed up. They've been feeling better in the past weeks so let's see what happens. That is if I'm awake since we're going over to friends to watch the UFC pay-per-view tonight - not my plan.

Happy Birthday, kfuller!

Well, 5k this morning was a real clunker. Started out with a 7:12 mile and just went downhill from there, wound up finishing around 23:15, about the pace I ran a half marathon in June. Somehow was good for 2nd AG (should have been 1st, I was stride for stride with a guy through the last mile). Hamstring issues I was having earlier in the spring appear to be back, and I was pretty sore afterwards. If it follows the same pattern, easy runs will be okay but I'll need to lay off speedwork. I hope so anyway.

Nice runs out there in the heat, and have a great weekend, all.

I could have sworn I heard a rimshot a couple minutes ago. Well played.

Good luck with the 18. You should be fine as long as you remember to take gladiator gear off first.

Too tired to comment on all...

Son1 and I raced this morning. We've done this little 5K the past 3yrs or so. It benefits residents at a handicap residential facility. Turn out was pretty low this year. I didn't think I was going to have a very good race as I never really recovered from last weekend's Oly tri before hammering training this week. A quick warm up confirmed that the legs were trashed. The gun went off, a lead pack of 5 or so took off, including son1. I passed a few in the first mile, then I was on my own. It's an O&B and IB son1 was looking great, in 4th. Nothing ever felt good but I just kept truckin'. I swear the hardest races are when you are out there all alone--no bunnies to chase. At the finish line, I was handed the best hardware--2nd OA. Not a spectacular time, 10secs off my PR, but good enough for today! Son1 held onto 4th OA, 2nd AG.

From there, son1 and I drove across town to head out for a ride. Just a fun little spin, as neither of us really had much left. At m30 we stopped for ice cream. Funny, son1 and I have ridden thousands of miles together, yet he's never been to this little ice cream place that I've taken sons 3 & 4 numerous times. We capped the day with 45miles.

Now, packing so we can leave tomorrow morning. Sons1 & 4 will join me in the morning for an outreach project--handing out waterbottles on the bike path. From there, just the three of us will leave for vacation.

4BM - Wow fun filled day! I think you are kinda like me a never really back off. But 10 sec of PR sounds pretty good for me on dead legs.

Sorry I've been gone so long...I probably missed so much important stuff! Life's been life though, and this got put on the back burner along with any other computer time. I don't really know when I'll have regular computer time again until school starts pretty much.

Hopefully I'll see you all long before that, but just in case-keep doing work! I've been getting my miles in and will continue to do so. Enjoy this great summer weather! :D
