Morning to all, Ist time I'll ever start a daily thread. Today is the day of the 1 day H2C Training plan ™
Leg 1: Went to bed at 7:30 last night in order to get up at 2AM to try running in the dark for the 1st time ever. Drove into town (about 15 miles away) and ran a little over 5 miles in 50 minutes. I carried both a head lamp (and this is the prototype headlamp, circa early 70's) and a flashlight. Actually the light from the street lights was good enough to see and I ended up only using the lights when I was in the shadows. A combination of both lights worked out best. Saw 5 vehicles and one drunk woman who asked me "Whazzz happenin ????" Note to self, Johnny, if ever in need of female companionship, Grants Pass, 3AM is not where you want to find it . The run was actually easier than I expected and pretty fun, now to simulate riding in a van for the next few hours listening to Pearl Jam.

Next run, about 3 hours or so from now.

Good morning Johnny! Interesting run! How many B&B are running H2C? Sounds like fun!

It feels like fall here this morning. It's about 60 out, sunny and breezy. I hope to get out later when my husband gets home from golf.

Went to the movies last night. Can you believe they say a box of Junior Mints is 3.5 servings? Why would they bother with a .5 serving?

Hi Johnny, Hi Pink.

Pink are you from B&B? Junior Mints are one of my favorite candies. I can't wait to hear how John's H2C experience goes. That's funny about your 3 a.m. encounter.

Guess I'm taking the day off today to try to rest a few minor owies. I might even go back to bed for a bit

Hi all. Johnny, I'm looking forward to hearing about your HtoC experience.

0517
65 F, rain and wind
12 miles

I didn't plan this as a triple, but it kind of happened that way: 6 miles, 4 miles, and 2 miles. No female companionship.

8.5 slow miles . . . still recovering from Thursday's LR.

Is it good when your mailman drives by you and ask you if you are limping?
I guess I still had a couple of sore muscles from Thursday struggling up the hill on our street to start out.

Looking forward to reading about your other 2 runs for today Johnny!

Hi Pink, Millbot, choovie, & pro

I like your new name Pink, I'm doing H2C and taking Soundrunner's place (as if I could ), although she'll still be in the van to cheerlead and whip us into shape. Sans Souci & mcsolar are also in the van. How I got mixed in with those elites, I'll never know. Labduck, glidegal, and Flash1tx are also running, albeit for different teams and hopefully we'll all meet up at the big finish line beach party.

Run 2: 7.1 miles throught the woods at a pretty fast (9:15 mm) for that section of trail, pace. Started around 8AM PDT and finished around 9AM, a little less time between runs than will be at H2C, but I've got other things to do today. I think I'm going to have to bring 3 complete running outfits, as putting sweaty shorts back on just doesn't appeal to me. On a better note, Pearl Jam is OK, I can hang with that . Now, off to take the mrs. to her pedicure and then go to lunch, followed by the Simpsons movie . The next run will be a repeat of the 1st (hopefully without my new GF making an apperance ), really easy this time, don't want to injure anything.

Have a great day

I could do 3 strawberry margaritas.

Have fun meeting perch on the cape. Have you met him before?

Well, I haven't signed up for anything yet at Hartford. I'll wait until last minute. I still have my 20 milers to go . . . . What's your longest LR been? 16 or 18? Short memory with this age thing!

Johnny - nice trail run! I'm with Choovie - lot of pictures! Is it just a team of 3 or are there others? How's it work - you each have 3 legs to run?

G'Afternoon, Johnny, Pink, choovie, Pro, millbot, Econorama!

John, you're hilarious! Hope you read my post on B&B. I guess I should look at the legs I'm running, eh? Aw, it would just ruin the element of surprise. It's supposed to be fun, isn't it?

A good run for me this morning. This weight training is really doing things with "firing up" -- as the coach likes to say -- my glutes and legs. I feel strong. 19 miles. A tad faster than what I'm supposed to run it, but I'm getting better at slowing the pace. Geez, can I say it almost felt easy?

But I couldn't win a fight against the hops in my garden yesterday. They scratched my face and nose. Looks like I was in a weenie's razor fight. Strong legs, but mano-a-planto, I'm a pansy.

Pink, I hope you ate the whole box of those mints (BTW, what time are you looking to run the marathon?) I like Twisters and I stuff my gob with popcorn (forget the "Golden Topping," I want BUTTER). Washed down with club soda.

Enjoy the day!

[fanning tomwhite with palm frond] H2C is the Hood to Coast relay, tomwhite. Coming up next weekend! Stay cooooool. Man, that is WAY too hot.

Well, I must have eaten 3 servings worth of the Junior Mints and saved the extra 1/2 for my daughter. It was hard. But then she didn't want them this morning, so they were my pre run snack. (I love all these smiley's to pick from!)

19 miles FASTER than you were suppose to? And almost felt easy?? Guess maybe I should hit the weights . . . my legs are still a little sore/tired from my LR on Thursday

Well, I have a 3:32:55 net time for a PR, so I would love under 3:30 if it's nice out. But Pro might bring the rain . I think I'll wait til race day to sign up!

Nice runs everyone and super nice training regimen you have set up for yourself John.

I imagine anyone you see out around 3 a.m. in this town is pretty scary. In fact, I think I might have had a few of those show up at my yard sale today. yikes! meth much???

no running for me today - been selling our wares all day. DS has done pretty well on his table - $50, not bad for a 7 yr old!

I'm in a real funk about HTC right now. For the first time since I hurt my foot on Tuesday, I'm beginning to face the brutal truth that I probably won't be able to run by next weekend. I've been looking forward to HTC since last October when I got hooked up with the team I'm suppose to run with. Now I'm just PO'd.

Through my entire track career in high school and college, and also the past three years in my new life as a distance masters runner, I've been injured only once and have missed one race! I'm not dealing well with this. Grrr...

Sorry about the vent.
