Good Morning!

I wonder how Heme's 4 letter words are coming along . . . Hope you are having fun!

Finished 18.1 miles. Pooped now and drinking an ice cold chocolate milk. Glad that run is done. Only 3 more LR's if I can hold on!

Enjoy your Saturday!

Pink, you are the second person I've heard from to do 18 today. Amazing!

I did 9, and can't imagine doing it twice, but I guess I'll have to at some point - I did sign up for a marathon, after all.

BUT - 9 is my longest run EVER!!!! Very slow, 5 minute run, 1 minute walk, 1:43:42. Thank God for clouds. Last mile was tough. But I did it! Gotta go get cold packs on the knees in a bit.

I'm impressed with the runs from Pink & Laura!

It's a gorgeous day here and it was 60 degrees at 7:30am with low humidity (for a change). I ran 2 miles on my wonderful dirt road nearby, and I got to chat for a few minutes with a guy who was working with his 3 search & rescue dogs. He was doing training exercises with them and it was really interesting! Then I went to the gym and did 20 elliptical minutes and 30 minutes of a yoga class before I had to get ready for work.

Enjoy your day everyone!

Nice long run, Laura!

Lookin' good Pink.... good work.

8 miles for me with DH and 2 gal pals. I only ran 11 total this week but will get back on the wagon next week as I have another HM to do on Sept 19 and maybe one on Oct 3 in the Black Hills.

nice runs!

i have protosun this weekend, so just easy stuff. 3.5mi on the bike path while she rode her bike; new route for her so she explored a little bit. she did want to race me on her bike for the last 200m though... i won... maybe for the last time.

i'm sticking to my august schedule exactly so far, +/- 0.5mi per day. i'm such a geek. 57mi so far, of 236 planned.

It's a greta day for some greta runs today.

I think the fact that I've recently cleaned up my food intake has really affected my energy level. Used to be I could either run or go to yoga class, but never both in the same day. But I did fine with that plan today. Got out early enough to make it to the 8:30am yoga class (75 minutes), then met my running partner in the park. I started my run from home, so I had done 2.6 miles already before we met (coming from opposite directions, then I'd double back to run with her). All total, I did 5.5 miles and the pacing was fine today. I thought about running home from her house but then decided I really shouldn't push my weekly mileage more than I have been lately. As it is, I'm up to 36.65 miles as of today, and there's still tomorrow!

Enjoy the day, all.

Sounds like long run Saturday in here, feel a bit inferior with my 6 miles although I did win the local 5km. Time was 17.20 so nothing special.

I seem to be making progress in the open water so hoping for another improved performance in my race next weekend.

Rode home 41 miles with the young lad I coach, after taking him home we popped to the local bike shop who I ride for and it is looking like they may sponsor the young lad. If this happens I will be going back on the race circuit to work as his lead out man to get him out if Cat4. Funny thing is I'm not good enough to get out as I can';t sprint. The kid can sprint.

(((WJ's ugly-headed ITB)))

Emeraldvally and I sneaked a run in late last night on the wood chip trail (which she hates -- it's like running on marshmallows). We ran so fast! At one point I complained and told her she's one-stepping me (running one step ahead), so she slowed down for 3 or 4 steps...

And at the end of that peppy run, we checked the time on her Garmin and it was painfully slow! Eh???

Oh well.

Retail therapy today for me -- got some Adizero trail shoes. I'd like to hear from anyone else who has worn these -- like 'em? Does the lack of heel lift bother you at all?

Sweet retail therapy Econo and it's all how you feel---if it feels fast, cool

Oh no WJ----ITB is banned from my house (hear that ITB?) so sorry it's visiting you and hope it's brief.

Go Pink! You are running great and can easily tackle the next three long ones. Hartford? Is that the marathon you are doing? Did you see the new course, even a bit faster yet. Still not sure I'll do the half there, but I'll be there to cheer either way.

Nice runs all around and TW is a bachelor for awhile. Sounds like a great trip for Pickles. Behave now

13.6 miles for me today including the 11.6 mile John and Jessie Kelley Ocean Beach Park race (New London, CT) in 1:21:02. Placed 2nd in my age group and snared some Conn. Tigers baseball tix, swam in the ocean and danced on the boardwalk to the tunes of "Run for Cover" before heading home. Pretty near perfect day.

Bronx half-marathon up next on 8/15----roar.

Some nice long runs today and CNY's speedy race.

Pig wings and deep-fried s'mores?

Of course it's State Fair time!!

Other than eating, I walked about 6 or 7 miles around the fairgrounds and watched Sandra Lee cooking live and semi-homemade.

I have now been detraining two weeks with two more weeks to go until my half marathon. My legs were pretty dead this morning after a massage on wed followed by very hard bike and eliptical sessions the last couple days. The plan is to not run any until race day and then see how far I get. After that, I can call it a season and hope to be back next year.

WineJunky, sorry to hear about your noughty enemy showing back again. Take care mi amigo. Take it easy. Good for the Canadian to show you the way...

13 miles for my wings at 5am this morning. I ran a modified "wave run". 1 hour slow, 10' fast, faster, faster, fastest with 10' slow interval run. I may or may not get any speed benefit from these runs, but heck...I am sure having a great time with an structureless running schedule this summer.

Sorry to hear about the ITB problem, WJ. I've never dealt with that but DH is having a terrible time with his... not running related.

Go Pink! Nice run for you! I had a woman in pink pass me today in my race and I thought of you as I passed her back near the end. All I could think of is "don't let TWIP pass you back!"

Be good, TW. But enjoy. I know I would. And lucky Pickles for that sweet trip she's taking.

Hi Mariposai! Nice "wave" run for you. Hey, whatever works. Whenever I try that wave run business, I find I'm always facing the faster portions at the bottom of a big hill.

I ran the Santa Claus Half Marathon today, out in North Pole. (no, not THE North Pole... it's a little town 16 miles south of us, and really plays on that Santa theme... candy cane streetlights and the whole deal. really.) I wasn't sure what I'd do today, so decided to treat it like a training run and work on pacing at MP or something like that. Well... it turned out a little better than that. 1:42:17 for a good PR on THIS version of the course. A couple years ago this course was flooded so we ran the race all on roads and bike paths and I ran a 1:41:20... I'm really happy that this much more challenging course was only 57 seconds slower. This course includes some roads, but lots of trails with a lot of gravel... some with a lot of "river rock" size oblong and round rocks. I stumbled and staggered a couple of times, but made it through. The dirt trail parts of this course are really nice, especially since the mud puddles weren't very big. So... another 1st in AG, but 2nd in the series AG... I'll be happy next year when Jane is in the higher AG for series points.

Then I went up to the ski hill for more blueberries... 4 1/2 hours later, I emerge with over 1 1/2 gallons of beautiful berries. Now to clean them... ugh.
