Morning all.

Mike - you golfing this weekend?

12.25 miles this morning. Pretty hot and slow. One of those get 'er done runs.

On the ac subject. I don't remember our homes in KS when I was young having central air. My grandparents put in a window unit when I was in high school. We did the fans in the windows as well. One summer I remember my grandfather taking the bed outside one night and we slept in the driveway. It was a semi rural/suburb type neighborhood. Embarrassing for a teen ager but cooler.

Hi KS!

I suggested to my DH that we might want to consider blowing up the air bed for the basement (unfinished), but he was more thinking of setting up the tent on the back lawn. Only problem with his idea was that it would have to involve clothes.

Met a dozen members of the Saturday trail group at 7 am for a 10 mile run. H&H but tolerable in the woods. The best part was the beer in the river after... at 9 am!

Heme - your run this morning sounds like soo much fun!!

Have you ever tried sleeping on a large ice pack underneath your back or under your neck? It can really bring your core temp down so you can fall asleep. I have a couple large (9x14) clay-filled ones that we used years ago to keep the dog cool when we lived in a hotter locale. DH has found they come in handy for the occasional hot night here.

I enjoyed a gorgeous cool summer run, keeping in mind that over half the country is having a record heat wave.

As my penance, I added two miles to my LR today! I'm impatient to get to 16, so I decided to just do it. Figured if I went slow enough, it was doable. Started with 5 flat (the scenic neighborhood route) followed by the 10M rolling hills route and tacked on an extra mile at the end. It went OK - had some sporadic muscle cramps, and my knees didn't appreciate downhills twice in one week - but I kept to my pace range of 11 to 11:30 and didn't fall apart at the end.

There is a stables next door to me on a beautiful piece of property, with a couple dozen of horses in open pens and people doing fun things with their own horses. So I wandered over there after my run, got in a good stretching session, threw a ball (many times) for a couple of cute high energy dogs, and visited some horses. It was a nice change of scene from stretching in my own living room, I'll say!

Is there a 10 mile minimum to post today? Great runs everybody.

The last couple days I have been driving my old work car which doesn't have ac. (it gets 40 mpg) I missed those short breaks where I could get in the truck and cool down a few minutes while I ate. Since noon yesterday though, I have been working in a basement and that has been much cooler.

Heading out to do at least 10 miles on the eliptical.

Hi all....nice 10+ mile runs everyone....impressive 16 HF (nice horseplay too) Beer, Heme, it's not just for breakfast anymore.

No run for me, worked all day, got up to mid 90's by afternoon, lucky for us we had the hard stuff done by then. No AC outside either.

Have a room airconditioner in the bedroom, but we haven't used it in a few years. Things so old it sounds like a 727 taking off, seriously. The house is completly shaded by trees, so other than a few weeks before and after the summer solstice, it stays pretty cool, using the open the windows at night and close everyting up in the daytime method. Have AC in the work truck, my truck, & Mrs. Johnny's car, so we're up to 1970's standards in that department.

10 mile every other week short long run on tap for tomorrow.

Thanks Johnny - must admit my legs are pretty fatigued right now and when I go downstairs my calves grab up on me. But I'm sure I'll be fine by tomorrow - not running then, but yoga for sure. Enjoy your Sunday run.
