Taught spinning, then had a surprisingly excellent 5 miles on the treadmill. The satellite radio was beaming down good tunes -- I think that had something to do with it.

After a brief test this morning, I figured that I could run 5K without my sore hamstrings blowing out, so I entered a small local race. The race turned out to be the smallest I've ever seen around here, by far...only about 25 entered and at least 15 of those were walkers. I haven't done many races with less than 100. There were two other local races today that offered prizes, so more runners must have gone there.

Anyway, I had a good time racing against a guy and his college-age son. The son led most of the race while I had 2nd for about 2 miles. Then with about a half mile to go, the father blew past both of us. I ended up third with either my 2nd or 3rd faster 5K ever (the race was about 10-15 seconds short of 5K b/c they set up the timer at the wrong end of the parking lot where we finished).

No real prizes, but I got a 3rd place certificate with my name on it and a 'medal' made by the students at the church/school.

8 on the tm...should have been outdoors, in perfect conditions, but the FOUR FREAKING PITSTOPS were yet another reminder as to why I run safely indoors.

hey alex,
Were any of the Pittsville seniors invited to run in the Senior Spotlight down in Cedar Falls, Iowa today?
My son and our other super senior sprinter are there...not sure what they're running...probably a couple relays.
(My boy wants to take a shot at the 400, as it is something he's good at, but wasn't given a chance to run it more than 2x this year.)

~cheers~

6 miles in a local 10K. There were over 200 runners, but I don't know how many. We came in last but it was my sister's first time running that far and there was a bit of walking. We sprinted at the end to make it look good, and got some cheers for our efforts. It was great fun! I think it was 1:19: ?? at the end and I believe we crossed the finish line together.

Good effort for everyone else today. wtpj, sorry about the pitstops, but hey, you went 8 miles!

15.5 miles today. I felt pretty good as I was finishing I kind of wanted to keep going but ran out of time. Hoping to get at least 1 18 mile run in June at some point.

I ran the Northfield Mountain Trail Race. Got lost once and rolled my ankle twice. It was raining too. Despite that, it was actually kind of fun! 4.3 miles up to the top and then a steep 2 mile downhill. Time was just over an hour. Still can't believe I got lost.

Beer and ice now.

I'm just back in from 5 easy miles around South Eugene.

The local Hasher 5k trail race was this morning, and I successfully lobbied DW into running it last night. I told her that I would get the kids ready to go and watch them while she raced. I also told her one of us had to participate because it was a fund-raiser for Special Olympics. So she ran it and had fun.

I would have run it, but my legs still feel thrashed. I'm thinking that I should donate blood next week (they've been calling me for my o+) and give myself a good reason to take a few days off of running.
