Hi y'all. For today at least, I'm crashing the party here.

I've been struggling some lately with injury, health issues, and general entropy. So I figure I'll report every once in a while to help push me along.

This morning: 4 miles, recovery pace with some unstructured stride action at the end. The strides felt great. Gorgeous morning in Chicagoland: sunny, mid-40s and warming rapidly.

Have a great weekend.

I have enthalpy for you Hairy! Out West it is a beautiful morning, and I will be racing in a couple of hours. Just a local charity 10k event, but probably about 2,000 runners, walkers and wheelers. This is my last race before Vancouver, on May 6.

Good runs to all today

Took the car into Goodyear for an oil change. They told me it would be about an hour. So I said no problem, I'm going on a run. 6 miles and 55 minutes later I'm back, the CRV is ready and off I went.

The run itself took me through the Mercer University campus - small but enjoyable campus, and a few surrounding neighborhoods. Significant hill work today.

10 hilly miles with training group. Started with the 9 m/m group but it was coming easy and I got to yakking with another guy. Finished with an 8:10 average pace. Pushed all the ups and rested on the downs.

Went back to the car, pounded an ensure, scarfed a banana and switched water bottles. Ran the course in reverse at a leisurely pace. Missed a turn somewhere and got back to the car after only 9. Oh well. Average pace of 8:40 mile.

Significant hill work today also.

Absolutely perfect morning with great temps and bright sun. Everyone have a great day!

Nice running today all!

I went on a 35-mile ride with the local cycling club this morning. We went on a bunch of country roads which meant LOOSE DOGS. One little terrier tried to get himself caught in my spokes, and one husky cross just wanted to go for a run along side.

My cross bike is a slow comfy cruiser, not fast like the riders with their rode bikes, but I managed to not be the last one in. Fitness-wise, this was nothing, partly because it's hard to go a lot faster than 15-16 mph on my bike. It was a pretty, sunny morning with temperatures getting into the 60s by the end.

Now I really want a road bike.

I feel the need, the need for speed.

2 miles in 20 minutes today. Little Easy sat in the bouncy seat, and Miss Sunshine played a respectful distance away from the treadmill. At one point, she said, "You're so fast, Mommy!" Hee hee. When I was done, she insisted on putting my bandana on her head and taking her turn running. I put it on 1 mph and she ran enthusiastically for a little over a minute. She was so proud of herself for getting her workout in.

My weekly totals:

Running: 8.8 miles
Avg. Pace: 11:31/mile

Walking: 1.7 miles
Avg. Pace: 19:56/mile

Pilates/Yoga:
Time: 55m 00s

I might add another 15 min of abs if timing works out.

Hi all,

Nice efforts today! Keep it up folks!

Finally, a gorgeous day here in Massachusetts. It was 75 in the shade when I went out (probably close to 80 in the sun).

Daily Run Report

Date: 04/21/2007Time: 16:36
Run Type: Just A Run
Distance: 3.4 miles
Total time: 00:31:46.5Average Per Mile: 00:08:27.6
Course: Home 3.4 mile loop
Max HR (for entire workout): 162
Average HR: 147
Shoes: Mizuno Wave Rider 9 - 02/2007Date Entered Service: 02/23/2007Ending Mileage: 308.4
Weather: Sunny, breezy and warm.
Temperature: 75Temperature Type: Ambient AirTime: Start
Temperature: 73Temperature Type: Ambient AirTime: End
Dew Point: 21Time: Start
Dew Point: 27Time: End
Wind speed: 3Max Gust: 12Direction: VAR

6.5 miles at 2:30pm. I measured on Sunday. Anyway 1:08:16 for my run.

No cramps, but it wasn't as long as the runs when I have had cramps in the past. I did try to drink enough, have been taking the occasional magnesium tablet, eat tums now and again and had 8oz. gatorade yesterday and the same this morning.

I also tried the injinji (sp?) socks today, and they felt OK, but the bottoms of my feet (ball) were a bit sore. I think they'll be fine if I put something on the ball of my feet for longer runs. They're funny looking, too

By the way, the day was gorgeous! The temp was near 65 F for the run today. I just hope it doesn't start getting too warm quickly, since the heat usually slows me down. But it was nice to run in shorts and a short-sleeved shirt for the first time this year.

ETA: meri, I also wore some thin wright sock's over my injinji socks, and my feet feel OK today. I think a longer run might result in a different story.

I use another thin sock over the injinji's because they are way too thin for me. fyi.

Did a bit of a fartlek today...ran out 2.2 as warmup then .5 mile in 3:00, jogged for .3, then ran another .5 in 3:00. Turned around and jogged for .8, then ran the final .5 in 2:54. Then ran the 2.2 home as a cooldown with 3 striders thrown in. I think I like doing intervals more on the track actually. It's easier to measure and closer. I am surprised though because if not an interval workout I will be nowhere near a track if I can help it. Very tired feeling in legs again. I'm taking tomorrow off/very easy. We'll see then I guess...

Have a great night.

Grizzly - Prayers said - Fingers crossed for tomorrow

Still sick - It was 44F - light wind, and I ran inside, because I did not want to get stranded in an out and back

So I hit the TM and ran a very easy 21 - I thought I quit before I was wiped out, but I was wrong - I do think I am on the mend.
