21 mile slugfest this morning. Never a doubt I'd win but it was a fight. 75 degrees, 80% humidity, no wind to speak of. Bay was relatively smooth and beautiful when the sun came up. 82 miles for the week and I'm tired.

Good running on your half OM

Great mileage John.

I'm just about ready for some warmer weather. Of course it was about 70° with no wind again today for my run.

8:30 first mile, 8:00 for all the rest. 9 miles total 2% incline

Nice, easy run. Speedwork on the schedule for tomorrow.

Greetings, Masterfuls.

Light card so far today. ksrnr, the most miles I ever did in a week was 70 and I doubt that's ever going to happen again.

Three miles today. Started on a still-snowy and slushy rail trail, then moved to the roads so that... well, I would move.

Good runs, all

Holy Toledo, ks. Awesome mileage.

Tough act to follow, hey rip and tw? Nice w/o's nonetheless.

I had another awful MLR. That's two weeks in a row. Legs just felt tired right out of the gate, especially the quads, which is very unusual for me. Anyway, got 'er done. 12 miles, 8:36 avg pace.

Yesterday's snow will be mostly melted by the end of the day. It can fight April sunshine.

Happy Saturday to all

10 miles for me today: rolling hills route, sunny, 50 deg., felt cold because of the wind; landed wrong on left knee coming down a hill - ice pack in place now-should be fine.

KS, are you working towards a particular goal with all these miles, double workouts, and long runs? ETA: oh I see your May 1 Marathon on the schedule - got it!

"Enjoy the gift." I like that one, Mike.

Hi TW! Hi Baba!

I wasn't sure how today's run would go. My original plans to run part of the course for the 50K in May went out the window when I was told there'd be nobody there this time. I hadn't wanted a terrifically technical/hilly run today, especially since Wednesday's trail run really kicked my butt, but decided to do a full out and back on my favourite trail, where I'll be racing a 29K in two weeks. Thankfully, I hadn't taken the screws out of the Salomons! Much of the trail was still covered in ice and a good bit of the remainder was about an inch of mud over frozen ground. I took my time, walked the worst of the hills, fell once, and finished 18 miles in just over 4 hours. Easier than I'd anticipated! Foot's still feeling OK, but will ice it to be on the safe side.

Am now recovering with a nice cold beer and compression socks!

Sounds like great weather for a 15 miler Paul.

Wow Heme...way to gut out that 18 miler in some tough conditions. Did you run that solo??

As for me, 13.7 miles, the last 11.8 with Tamster. Having someone to run with made for some great conversation. The time went by pretty quickly.

I know, Johnny! The knee is fine now after icing. My butt bones are on fire though and I need to break away from the computer since sitting is the worst possible thing I could be doing right now. My plan for the coming week is to continue running as if I'm not having a flare-up, but I'm using Voltaren gel and sitting on a heating pad as much as possible, plus all the glute and ham stretches I've been neglecting. I'm hoping it will settle down since it's not so bad that I can't run. It is bad enough though that I can't sit for pretty much any length of time which affects work and driving to work. If it doesn't get better soon, I'll have to take a few days off running until it stops hurting, then resume with every other day.

Yes Johnny, that was a solo run. Could have joined a group if I'd been up for a 7am run, but did manage to say "Hi" to a couple of the stragglers that I knew. The sun was out and it was one of the warmest days so far this spring, so there were lots of hikers.

Finished the day of with some yard work, all to keep the legs limber. I've got crocuses in bloom!!!

Leafs game is on the tube now that dinner's finished, so I guess it's time for a nap!

I've had bursitis twice in past, about 5-7 years ago, both times in my hip. Both times I stopped running for 3-4 weeks, and then took another 3 weeks or so to ease back into some semi-decent milage. I hope you don't have to resort to this. You're a fairly experienced runner and have been running for some time if I'm not mistaken, so maybe it won't be so bad for you. I started running the 2nd time after a 30 year layoff at age 52 about 8 years ago and for the first few years suffered through one injury after another. In fact, that's how I came to find this group back in the CR days.

Wow, some nice runs around here today! Way to tough out that 21 miler ksrunr... that's some impressive mileage you're running, you've got a right to be tired!

Mike, you know what they say: carpy runs today mean good runs later! Sort of a "paying your dues" kind of thing, I guess. Or balance in the universe, whatever. You've got some good runs right around the corner.

Nice 15+ for Paul and 18 hard fought miles for Heme! You guys are all awesome. I missed the memo that this was long run Saturday.

We're having some nice warm temps this weekend, but could see snow again next week. It doesn't really matter, it can snow and spit a bit, but it's on its way out, that's for sure. The hardpack was slick with the mild temps though, so like Heme I was glad for my screwshoes, even with the slipping I still did. It won't be long though before I can at least do road runs in screw-less shoes! Yesterday I ran 4.5 peppy miles after work before DH and I went out to a comedy show. Then today we just puttered around the house for a long time, but I got out for 10.4 miles in the warm sunshine on a somewhat hilly route. Felt pretty good but overheated. Now I get to figure out how to dress for warmer weather! A nice task to have, indeed.
