Good Morning All!

I got stuck in Chicago yesterday. First leg of my flight arrived early and I checked the board for the next leg so I could get to the gate said "On Time". Got to the gate and it said noon instead of 11 (first hint). Went to get breakfast but I was 5 minutes late for that so I had to order from the lunch menu (good thing). Got back to the gate and it said 1. Finally departed at 3:15 and I got home at 5:30. Decided to take a rest day.

Half marathon today. The race is part of our State Parks Tour races so it doesn't start until 11. I'll get a report in later.

Tonya - glad you found a great doctor. I hope that your 'new' Nike hasn't gone through a minor model change that affects your foot. Over the years I have noticed that shoe companies will make an adjustment to the upper or the toe box or some other little thing that will change the whole way the shoe works for you. That's one reason why I usually have 3 different pairs of shoes with different mileage so I can always have something that I can fall back on without having to go to a shoe that has broken down.

Great job for those who are having ring problems because of weight loss! I'm having the problem of getting mine off - I've gained almost 20# in the 7+ years since I got mine. One of my resolutions was to get back down to my PR weight (I don't think I'll be able to get back my PR speed though).

Safe running!

Ug... made it all of .15m before deciding to bag the run. Felt crappy when I got up--best way to describe it is a nasty hangover--but decided to try it anyway. Got to the end of the street and decided it just wasn't worth it.

Son and I will go for a ride this afternoon. Sick or not, we'll go!

I no longer wear my wedding ring either. I've lost too much weight and it is way too loose. I should have it sized, but Grandpa used to do all of our work and I don't know where to go now. Hubby had to cut his ring off, and now it has a big gap.

That is so cool about the whole weight loss thing as well. With all my cutting in my binge snacking I think I may get down to almost sophomore year weight. I weighed 145 and by next XC I was somehow 150. I was 150 this year as well, but during Christmas I somehow got to 155. Well I've really cut out of a lot of the junk food I eat and now my snacks are more like an apple or banana or trail mix instead of a Little Debbie cupcake or something. Slowly but surely I think I can make it back to 145. This morn I was 151 so I'm getting there.

Gonna start helping dad at his butcher shop on Saturdays from now on, so for at least today I won't be doing my long run until this afternoon, but it's a good thing seeing as it's gonna warm up considerably from what it is at now. -6 with WC now, supposed to feel like 16 or 17 when I run.

Yay....have a great day and get better Mom.

Well since we are talking about wedding rings... My ring fell out of my pocket when I was walking out to the mailbox. The neibhbors car must have ran over it. I found it in the driveway by the mailbox and it is now scratched beyond belief. Don't know if they can fix it and it has been a few years. 8 mile run scheduled for me today. I hope it goes well. Have a great day everyone.

Dave and Trecker - Good luck with your races today!

KFuller - Have a great 8 and good luck with the ring.

4boys - Hope you feel better soon.

Richard - A day off?

Alex - Wow, Balmy weather! Enjoy!

4 miles in a while. Still feeling tired this week. Thought I'd wake up refreshed after a day off yesterday but NO!

Can't believe I'm hearing a frog right outside my front door! Must be confused by the 40 + temps.

Dave and Trecker- Good luck today! Can't wait to hear the race reports.

4boys- Feel better! The flu or something is going around here as well. Enjoy your bike ride later.

Alex- You remind me of myself in high school. I was one of the only members of the team that actually trained during the off season while the rest waited for the first day of practice. Your dedication is very admirable and will pay off in the future! Have you decided if you wanted to run in college?

Kfuller- Sorry to hear about your wedding ring. I hope there's something they can do! Enjoy your 8 miles later.

Dan- Take it easy if you are still feeling tired. It's your body's way of saying "I need to back off a bit". Have a good 4 miles.

Richard- Enjoy work.

Going to test the ankle on the stationary bike later. I'm walking without pain today so we'll see how it goes.

Have a good day, all.

Good morning!

Good luck Dave and Trecker in your races.
4boys-hope you feel better. Did you ever share a picture of your hair and I missed it?

Usually byt he time I have done my run and I am ready to post, everyone has already gone to bed. I have just been doing shorter runs, trying to recover from the marathon and getting ready to build up for Boston. I am going to try and run 12 miles tomorrow and see how my muscles and joints feel. I get to run during daylight hours so I am excited! My daughter and I have a special day all to our selves. Brother gets to stay with the babysitter. It will be nice bonding time. One of these days very soon I am going to be really uncool!

Cheers to all!

4BM - hope you feel better.

My 5k went well. 18:21 with an over all win. Now that was much faster than I was planning, but when I was out front I didn't want to slow down.

I have a massage schedule for 1:30. I how that loosens things up.

Great job on the race, Dave. Ho-hum, 18:21...
Trecker, good luck to you today.
I did five miles today. It was cold, 11 degrees or so, but the wind wasn't bad and I was able to properly layer up. A modest effort, but still my longest since Feb. 1 (7).
4BM, Alex, those weight-loss resolutions appear to be bearing fruit...

Good runs, all

Great job Dave! Wow, a first place while not feeling great! Great run!

I am quite frustrated...spent a lot of time last night planning this morning's 14 mile run and forgot to turn on my alarm after I set it...slept right through and now I don't know when I'll get my run in. Ugh.

Awesome, Dave! Congrats on the win.

5k here too. About 19F, clear skies and sunny, and little wind at 9:30a. A downtown Cleveland race that started at Tower City, headed over the Detroit-Superior Bridge for a loop around Ohio City, and returning back over the bridge.

No doubt I'm in early season shape; I ran out of steam with about 1/2 mile to go. I gave up with no final kick to offer. Oh well, it's early season and I am just starting into interval workouts.

Splits:
5:45 (short)
6:35 (long)
6:12
0:47

Finished 19:19 and about 25th place.

Ran about 10 miles total, with a 4 mile warm-up and 3 mile cool-down.

Dave-- That is a very good time. Awesome job on the Overall Win.

Liz-- I have not been wearing the ring for a few years. I think it has been that long. Now I have no idea where my son might have put it. He likes to scatter things everywhere. I hope you are pain free today.

I got out for an 8 mile run and it felt good. It was one of those days where I could have gone longer. Had it not been a rest week I might have gone 9 or 10. 8 miles in 1:08:44(8:36). Have a great morning everyone.

Later on....

Dave - Awesome time especially with how you were feeling. Good for yu. Congrats on the overall.

Roots - Nice early season effort. If I ran 4 miles to warm up my 5k time would be a 10k.

Brian - Bummer, hope you're able to get it in later.

Rainerrun - Glad you're able to "see the Light" Enjoy the time with your daughter.

Liz - Good luck later. Hope it goes well. I took it easy on my run but it wasn't an easy 4 miles!

4 easy miles for me. Easy's a misnomer though.

Congrats on your win, Dave!

Liz, hope the ankle feels good on the bike.

Another 5K racer checking in here. I am traveling and decided to do a local race here and see where I'm at -- no huge goal at anything. I knew it would be a challenge as the most of the first and last miles incorporate what to me looks like a big bridge. I ran it hard but not all out race gasping for breath praying for death effort like I would on a home course.

I ended up 23:34, 3rd AG, ~ 30 seconds off my PR with no speedwork lately and on a tougher course than my PR course, so I am very pleased! Still 9 weeks until Boston so there's time to improve my fitness, too.

I warmed up 2 miles and cooled down 3 so about 8 miles total for me today.

Hope you're all enjoying your Saturdays.

I've got 18 on tap for today. I would have done it this morning but I had to go in for a blood test which of course meant I couldn't eat anything beforehand. My wife and I will be going out to get something soon, and then I will need to digest a bit.

So it's probably going to be late afternoon before I get out there. If not, I'm looking at a long time on the treadmill this evening.

Dave - nice job on the win. I think that deserves a full report.

Roots - nice job on the 5k as well.

kfuller - great job on the 8

Liz - glad to hear you're working your way back

Dan - way to get the run in despite not feeling your best.

Brian - sounds like you're in the same boat as me. Good luck with it.

Rainie & Apple - hope you get those runs in.

4bm - hope the ride goes better later

trecker - good luck in that half!
