I'm starting??? or did I miss something??

5 pleasant but slow miles in about an inch of new fallen snow. A bit slippery under foot. Very pretty though as I ran through the center of town with the lights and decorations.

Healing vibes to Rosie.
Good luck to PeteNC and other racers today!

cheers,
I am a weather wimp. It is cold and damp outside and I am fighting off a cold. I am going to run on the treadmill here at home.

enjoyed some real weather this morning. nice 5mi warmup in some drizzle in the dark, some wind. then one guy showed up. i ran back to my car to get my old racing flats on, ditch flashlight, etc. there were two others from the group at the start, so we began the workout. a lovely cold downpour during the workout added some excitment. ran 2x800, 90sec rest, 1 mile, 2:30 rest, 2x800, 90 sec rest. 2:58 (downwind), 3:05.5 (upwind), 5:52.6 (down), 3:01.9 (up, pouring), 3:02.9 (up, pouring).

after 2 mile cooldown the rain had stopped, of course.

no flooding... we ran the workout on a bike path in a dry wash, which was mostly dry. those are some awesome shots dove... could you send some of that water down here? looks like another storm is headed towards you pnwesters... good luck...

wish i could get my heart rate up to about 165 or higher. legs too tired to get moving fast enough. only hit 162bpm today at the end of the mile. need to work on breathing harder and sprinting more.

Hey MC you can have my HR today. I'll be hitting 170 during the race, I'm sure. Of course even though it's just a "training run," my HR at a race always starts at least 20 points higher than normal. During a marathon, it'll come down in time, but not during a 5k. The trick, since I don't have my Garmin yet, will be to hit that first 1k split at 5:10. I remember what that feels like from Thursday night's run at the track, but I'll probably still have to back off a little. It's been about a year since I ran a 5k and I went out too fast as is common.

I ate too much last night and felt really heavy. The scales confirmed it this morning, 151. So I'm being careful about what I eat today. Any suggestions appreciated.

mc, what do those times mean? (2:58, 3:05.5, 5:52.6, 3:01.9, 3:02.9)

It's snowing on and off here. It's a perfect day for a long run.

Then I joined mrs millbot for her workout. She's finishing the third week of the KR beginners 5K program. Woohoo!

Have a good Saturday, all.

Edit: Okay, I figured out what mc's times mean, even without help from SS. Nice workout, mc.

Nice run in the snow Cadd

Dove - thanks for the pics. Just can't appreciate the damage with out pics. Can't imagine the $ and time to rebuild some of those homes and businesses.

20 miles for me this morning with the lovely and gracious mrs ccrunr. All her partners scattered like a covey of quail for the scheduled 20 this morning and of course I don't think it's safe for her to run that far starting in the darkthirty a.m. Only 70 degrees and high humidity this morning. Wish we had a little snow.

got to go finish up the Christmas shopping. Drat, I'd rather go run another 20.

thanks KS. You don't know how badly I want to drive down there and run the half @M pace next weekend. But I think I'd be smarter staying here and doing an easy run of 2 and a half hours, about 15 miles. I haven't done any M pace training since the injury and that may have been what caused it, too much too fast too soon.

And thanks mariposai. Maybe I'll flutter to the finish like a butterfly.

Morning, Masters. Hi, Cad. Welcome Wick. Morning Ilene.
Econo, I was thinking about your rash and I have a suggestion: tat sleeves. I'm sure you can find a disreputable tat artist who will do the deed. You'll still gasp at the bit of arm at the end of your sleeve, and so may your colleagues, but it will be a different gasp.
I'm saving up a Big Boss for tomwhite. In the meantime, Mister, see that little globe with the chainlink when you're writing a post? First, copy the link http etc. Then highlight a word or words in your post, click on that globe, and, voila, paste in your link (without taking up the entire page).
C..AA..S, I take it the first consecutive-day run went well?
Nice run, ksrunr. I am WITH you on the shopping. Ack.
millbot, even I understand those numbers. Great run. Hooray Mrs. M!
Opie, stop eating so much.

Blah, rest day. Reluctantly, I'll do it -- and maybe I'll slip in a few planks and stretches and go for a walk. Tomorrow I'm upping the run volume. Strangely, my back's just a tad cranky and I think it's from attempting that side crow pose. Caw!

did I see Maiposai mention Eugene??? Or have I not had my coffee yet this a.m. and am seeing things through a blurry haze?? Oh, Mariposai, my wishes would come true if you would come. You can even ask Tet! I was just telling him an email earlier this week, that "now if Mariposai would come and maybe run with me for awhile on the course, I would be the happiest marathoner around!"

I thought about doing a short run with my dogs this a.m. but I opened up my window and it felt like a very damp wet cold, so I decided to not. I'll keep Ilene company in the weather-wimp corner.

I finished making and decorating my son's bday cake last night. A OSU Beaver football field . turned out pretty cute.

Welcome Wick.

Econo - what the medical plan on your rash? do you have a cream or antibiotic you are on? That's disconcerting that it's been this long.

Have a good day all!

Suck it up, Tamster. It's 40, foggy and damp here, feels like 33. Race time 5:45, forecast 36 feels like 28.

Sly Smirkster, I am eating less. You really wanted to use a smilie there, didn't you? About 3:30, I think I'll eat a bowl of Kashi GoLean hot cereal with a banana to bring it up to 322 calories.

Greetings gang.......some nice outings already reported.......ks and millbot with 20 and 15 milers...good going fellas............and nice workout mc, especially in that weather......caddis and wick....nice runs

I was doing the timing at the finish line of a local 5k race this morning and it was just a dreary morning. But, the rain wasn't too heavy, and the runners didn't seem to mind. Plenty of nice costumes, tons of runners in Santa hats, and a few pooches in assorted holiday attire as well. Seemed like a good time was had by all and a decent turnout considering the weather....all for a good cause.

I'm going to relax and catch the state high school football championships on tv for a bit. I'll get in a few running miles late this afternoon. Missed the group training run this morning to work the race, so I'll have to do my longer run tomorrow. Got a group that does trail runs on Sunday mornings and they don't meet at the designated trailhead until 9. I might just show up early and get in a few miles. Then I can run along with the group for whatever distance they are going. Should be a nice muddy outing and who can pass that up?

Hello all, I see everyone is having some kind of fun today! As for me, no running but a short tramp in the woods to get the blood circulating. Beautiful day, 40 or so, clean white snow. Wish I had time to be outside longer, but errands are calling me. Have a great weekend -

Welcome to Wick and Monday (is this Monday from CR?)

SS, I have some sore spots on each of my sides that feel a bit like bruised ribs and I can't figure out what that's from. I was wondering if it had something to do with trying to contort into side crow.

Nice runs for Ksrunr (20), mc (rain), millbot (15 -- how's the achilles?). That's exciting news about MrsMillbot starting a running program! Please keep us posted on her progress. Thanks for volunteering at your local race, Piejones. You are always a good sport about volunteering. I found out that finish line work is HARD!

Tomwhite, I looked through your link a bit and found it pretty interesting but need to spend some more time on it. I liked the one hamstring stretch where you stand up and put your foot flat against the wall with the leg parallel to the floor. Good stretch! My lower back is 100% now but I will be mindful of the bending. Thanks.

I ran 8 blah miles with a friend today. The only good thing about the run was that she and I got to spend some quality time together. Physically, we both felt tired and tight and were glad to be done with it. We had trouble staying warm with the windchill temp being only 5 degrees plus my legs felt restricted wearing tights plus long underwear. Afterwards we did 30 min of yoga. Her hubby ran too but he only lasted 4 miles due to a hangover. LOL

Hope everyone has a nice weekend. Tis the season for parties. We went to one last night and have another tonight. I'd like to host one but I can see we are fast running out of time for that. Maybe I'll plan a superbowl party.

Sorry to ramble but this is my wind-down time
