I wonder who is getting the storm we just had. It looks really nice outside. I have not decided if I want to go to the rec. center and use the treadmill or go outside. We are suppose to have a storm on Sunday, Monday and Wednesday, so there will be no shortage of snow here. I will report back later on my run. Have a great morning.

Richard - enjoy your holiday whenever you finally get it!

Flounder - enjoy that snow tomorrow--I wish we had snow as often as you guys in WI.

Kfuller - PLEASE, PLEASE let us come live up there with you guys. I can't believe how much snow you've had!! I adore snow. It's so much my friend. Have fun with it, whether you run in it or not.

I'm here in Amarillo, and the weather reports yesterday kept coming on the TV saying, "Winter Weather Advisory," and "Blizzard Advisory" for today, which is HIGHLY unlikely here.

Well, I wake up just a while ago and what do I see? It's snowing, all right, and it's very blustery, all-over-the-place snow, because the wind is blowing 38 miles an hour, gusting to 49 miles an hour. Also, the temperature is 23, but the WC is 4. Yikes. Anyway, it won't last. The meteorologists said it should be finished snowing by noon.

As soon as I get up and around, which should be in the next hour or so, I'm headed off to the Gold's Gym to do my long run on the TM. I'm going to guess and say it's probably going to be a 17-miler.

So, have a good one all, and I hope your snow sticks longer than it will here. Blah, I remember why I hate Texas...

Good luck with the long run Tonya, glad to hear you made it safely.

Off for my long run of the week. Puts me at 41.5 miles this week. Next week's a recovery week with all the craziness going on, plus the last 3 weeks have been 35, 39, now 41. I think it should help out, along with my new shoes to keep me running more and safer. After this little "holiday break" for me I'm hoping to get 3 week of running at about 43-45 mpw.

Report back later.

Good mornin', all.

Today's run: 41F and overcast at 8am. Warm enough for shorts, woo hoo!

Took my road-running group trailrunning this morning and I endured the grumbling from the roadies. The trail was a mix of crunchy and icy covering mud underneath. I had fun getting a little muddy, anyhow.

About 7.5 trail miles, 75 minutes. I had planned on a longer long run today, but will try to make up for it Sunday.

Tonya-- Maybe Phill is getting the snow that will stay. Up in the mountains which are literally out the door they had over 2 feet of snow. The skiers are happy. I will post a picture of the snow on cool running as it is easier to post there until I mess around with photobucket and figure that out.

The run today was o.k. 5 miles in 43:04 and icy sidewalks and roads. So for the conditions I ran well. Right now it is anywhere from 14-17 and I know it was cold when I went out running. As if it isn't cold enough. Have a great Saturday. I am off to do some cleaning and then some christmas shopping for my wife's family gift exchange.

Group run @6 miles on snow-covered trails. Wore my YakTrax Pros (first time actually running in them in the 2 years I've had them - they were great!), could have been in my snowshoes though. There were parts of the trail where we were post-holing into mid-shin deep snow and walking was required for about 1/2 mile. It was a blast though, I had a ton of fun frolicking in the snowy woods.

Good running today all!

Sounds like everyone had soem good runs today in adverse conditions. Beautiful weather for a run here...about 35 but misting ever so slightly. Was nice to not have to wear my jacket, and by the end of my run the only things really chilled were my hands. Was also neat to pass by my Coach who was out for a run with about 2 miles to go. 8 striders at the end. 10.1 at 7:58 pace.

41.45 miles this week! Woohoo.

some great runs out there in the cold, snow, blizzards, mist, you name it! Down in jax now for xmas and did a measly 3.1 this morning in 53 degree cloudy, misty, breezy weather....26:50 time so an 8:30 or 40 pace i guess it was....not fast at all but the good news is it was quicker than yesterday and my knee, while a bit sore, is nothing like it was! i can't fathom running in 15 degrees, ice and snow....25 degrees and no precip, yes, but not fuller's situation!

i can't tell you all how much i miss ever seeing any snow anymore....maybe once every few years, an inch or so somewhere, but that's the way it is...i'd probably start hating the stuff if i saw it all the time....love cold, snow and a nice fire as much as anything!

off to see santa this afternoon - this will be his first pic of the year with a 40 year old probably....nah, i'll let my kids hop up there while i watch.....

have a nice afternoon all.....

Hi gang,

First off, thanks to everyone who contacted me to tell me where you all were. I felt so loved by my running family!

I've been really busy with school, work & running and I'm sorry I haven't been able to post. I'm changing that today tho.

#1 - I have a 4.0 GPA in grad school right now I received an "A" in my first class. Now, let's hope next semester I can maintain it!

#2 - Really focusing on training for Derry right now...so ran 12.38 today. It was amazing outside. Most of the snow has melted, it was in the 40s...a stiff 14mph south wind, but that was ok.

#3 - I hope everyone has safe travels this weekend for the holiday and hope you all have a Merry Christmas (but I do plan on posting on Monday so I will say it again)

Jen & Roots, Stop taking roadies on the trails.... we do not need anybody else thinking it is fun
Tell them are loose dogs and snakes... and that they will probably twist or even worse break an ankle if they step even a foot on the trails... oh yeah and Bears and Yetis

Hey ya’ll,

Richard- Enjoy the rest
Flounder- Nice run this mornin’
Kfuller- Looks like we’ll have a green Christmas, sounds like ya’ll have a really nice winterland outside
Tonya- Hope the run went well…..you asked for snow and you got it! Sorry it won’t be stayin long though.
Alex- Nice run, sounds like a good plan to me for the 3 weeks after the holidays
Roots- Nice run, glad you had fun!
Jen- Nice run
Brown- Nice run, glad the knee is doing alright
Flo- Awesome gpa!! I got above a 3.5 this semester, all A’s and B’s with 18 credits, which is good enough for me

6 miles for me today…..around a 10:20 m/m avg. Its about 40* outside and overcast, not too shabby. I ran on the W&OD trail which is a paved trail but it has a gravel (the small kind) path next to it and I kept to that except for mile 2 and 5 where it went away. My left knee was OK for the first 2 miles and then really hurt on and off (got worse then backed off then got worse again) the rest of the time. It doesn’t hurt all the time, just when I’m running and for a few hours after, maybe it is ITBS…Besides that the run itself went alright though.

Hi everyone. Lots of good slippery, muddy, snowy runs out there today.

I enjoyed looking at snow-covered pines on my run today ... from the warmth of a treadmill in front of the Y's picture windows. With a wind chill of -8, ain't no way I was going out in that.

I did 16 miles in 2:29. I felt good overall, but could definitely tell that I'm not completely recovered from the marathon. My legs were a touch heavy and stiff feeling at the end.

I ended up running into a friend at the Y and we spontaneously caught up over lunch after -- that was fun!

Took 3rd place in the 200 meters at an all-comers track meet at Boston University. My unofficial time was 28.7. Hopefully they'll have official results soon.

fyi, to put that time in perspective, according to http://www.lollylegs.com/lollylegs/t.../age_grade.htm
that's an equivalent performance of a 2:58 marathon. Not nearly as difficult of course. Not bad for an old guy (2:41 age-graded equivalent marathon).

Richard, there WAS a loose dog! She happened to be with her owner though, a die-hard trail runner who was leading our way.

Nice showing Arrojo! You are quite a good sprinter!
