Good morning all,

We're getting into the heart of winter here... 24F but not much wind and clear.

10.02 miles of [email protected] 9:04 pace (153AHR)..the second half of the run felt much better than the first after I warmed up.

Good runs to all today.

Great run, Peter.
As far as your weather report goes, it's all relative, my friend. We had a 23-degree morning here in Southern New Hampshire, and that's downright balmy of late.

Five miles, and the effort seems to continue get a touch stronger as each day passes. Baby steps, but very encouraging.

Or as onetime Patriots coach Pete Carroll once said: "I'm feeling kind of dangerous."

Good runs, all

Good morning, all. Peter & Baba, way to get out there early.

I was going to go long today, but my Achilles is bugging me again. It's not bad but it feels like the kind of thing that will get worse if I push it. So instead I'm resting and icing again.

Have a good weekend, all.

Millbot...try a cool-down walk for 1/2-1 mile after you finish your run. I've been doing this lately and noticed that my problematic left AT has been feeling pretty good since I started walking afterwards.

Dancing is fun! And I'll bet if you put enough effort into it (rather than doing the "Old white man shuffle" you could claim points for the VRAA.

Today so far I did a 2 miler plus 1/2 of a yoga class. I plan to do some weights tonight. Tomorrow will be a longer running day.

This morning I got all my stuff ready for work before I hit the gym, which is near my office. When I got dressed after working out, I realized I had brought 2 right shoes, one black & one brown. I can't believe I did that. Poor DH had to drive 30 mins to bring me my left brown shoe. What a wonderful guy he is -- he didn't even say anything although he did roll his eyes a bit.

So there's another Riley on the list now, eh? Welcome!!!!!

4 miles for me this morning, with some walk breaks included. Timed at 47:47. Balmy 61* here, dampish. Had one little bit of "faster" running facing into the sun as it broke through the clouds, and Switchfoot (my favorite band) was playing on my MP3 player - felt so good to push a little for a change!

Came home and cleaned out the freezer so I could get it out to the curb before the Trashman comes. Now I'll have room for the fish that DS#1 will hopefully bring home from his trip to the coast today.

7.5 mi with 3 @ 6:35

a little faster than planned (6:40) but ran consistent splits. first mile i must have checked my watch 10 times, 6:39. next two i didn't check my watch, ran 6:32 and 6:34. took a gel during that last mile, no problem.

while i was running i concluded that there's absolutely no way i can keep that pace for a marathon. definitely means that i'm ready. only one more heavy breathing session before race day.... aaaacccckkkk!

millbot: have you tried a balance board for your achilles. has helped my achilles bursitis, and works great during flare-ups. not a replacement for icing though, so keep icing for sure!

8.7 miles at 8:02 mpm. Overdressed with 4 light layers for the 24 degree temps but was able to peel layers - the winter run stripteese - until I ended up being too cold.

Nice pace fellow team K member mcsolar99! What race are you training for?

Morning all. I cost myself $150 today. We had a local 5k $ race. First time since I lived here. They paid $150 to win sr masters division. As I'm tapering and really didn't want to chance an injury; a couple of us ran to the race to watch and then back to our cars. (6.5 miles in 60 degree temps) As it turns out I could have run tempo pace or slower and won the race. 'Course you never know who's going to show up. Anyway that $150 would have been nice to take to disney next week. One of my buddies won it so it's ok really.

DW rode her bike and that doesn't seem to hurt. But unclipping the pedal was extremely painful as she has to twist to get out. So she rode unclipped on the bad leg. Couldn't run across the front yard yet so it's not looking too good.

take care

Good Morning!

mc - speedy run! you're all set!
ks - smart to play it safe this close to the marathon. Hope your wife starts feeling better soon, but it doesn't sound good for Disney. Have you peeked to see if there are any marathons in the near future she can switch to?
tw - have fun shuffling.
LabDuck - glad your foot is doing better and good to see you posting more!

Very nice, emcee. Rest well this week. 2:54:49 and not a second faster.

millbot, smart move. If you really injure your AT, and I speak as the resident expert, it's much worse than a stress fracture in terms of time off. I agree with emcee about the balance board, though I think it's more of a long-term strengthening tool than a treatment for a fresh injury.

ks, easy come, easy go. You're not supposed to store up treasure on earth anyway.

tomwhite, sounds like you need some dance instruction.

I got to run again today! One mile walk to warm up, AT stretching, then 2 miles at 8:10 pace. No discomfort during or after, which is goot. Hopefully I'll get in some x-training later today at the Y.

Good to hear it, Dave! Your easy pace is about my max race-pace, but that shows that you're getting back to normal. There's a 5K in Novi on Feb. 3, but maybe that's rushing things a bit.

Roch, thanks. Absolutely no racing for me till later in the spring though, and only if things go well with the rehab from now on. I'd like to aim for a good showing in the Dexter-AA run six months from now... it will take at least that long to rebuild what was lost.

So, whassup with the election...any tips, Baba from NH?

I "ran" 5 on a glurpy woodchip trail. The going was so slow I felt like Spencer Tracy's dream sequence in Father of the Bride. Turned my watch off and just had fun.

4.1 miles this afternoon.

We had a death in the family (bro-in-law) on New Years Day, so I haven't I been out running since New Years Eve. I struggled after 4 days off!

I thought I needed a rest after a busy Dec., but I think I am better if I just take an occasional one day rest.
