16 miles with the Long Run Lunatics. It was a great morning and I really enjoyed this workout. Now I need to recover quickly since I'm planning on running a race tomorrow.

May your runs be fun and your rest relaxing.

No run yet. The in-laws are in town, and I'm having a hard time fitting it in. There are four kids who all have mixed and matched needs for napping, eating, screaming, etc. I hope to get a run in this afternoon.

I had an enjoyable one this morning - just a nice relaxed long run - I felt like I could have held that pace forever, but 2 weeks out to marathon - I just did 23 in @ 2:58 - I think I will go for another this afternoon.

Good running to all-

6 miles at 7:30 this morning. Summer has come to the Willamette Valley. I wore a sleeveless tank and was very comfortable.

Wow...just wow.
Long run day (at least for me) 15 miles in some hot/humid weather, even starting at 6:30am. I'm thinking I might have to start these runs by 6:00. I'm really comfortable running about 2 hours but I'm having a hard time getting much past it. Every minute over 2 is pretty hard. I'm hoping it gets easier soon. I'd like to get in 1 18 mile in the next 2-3 weeks. I think I'm stuck at this level. Any suggestions?

8 miles on the track at the high end of my easy pace. Actually, it was 4 times 1600 meters. I was monitoring HR and pace to see where aerobic condition was. I will check again in the late summer to see if it's improved.

Hi everyone,

Great running folks! Keep it up!

Rough night for me. The plan was a 5 mile recovery run. It was very warm (heat index over 90) with dew points in the low 60s. To make matters worse, some of you remember that earlier this week I said I had a sore throat. That throat is still bothering me.

I really struggled tonight.

I was supposed to to my exercise routine tonight, but I don't feel like it. And, I have a 20 mile run tomorrow.

Saw a very close call tonight. A young lady driving a Saturn was at a T intersection waiting to make a left turn. Another car came along and was going to make a left onto the road where the Saturn was. The driver making the left onto the Saturn's road motioned for her to go ahead. There was a Chevy Caprice Classic who was going to go straight, and rather than wait for the Saturn and the car in from him to make their left turns, he decided to put his right sides up on the curb and pass the car making the left in front of him. Just as the young girl in the Saturn pulled out. Fortunately, the guy in the Chevy noticed what was happening and jammed the brakes on. Missed her by inches.

Absolutely horrible race yesterday...I can't believe how embarrassing that was. Last place by 20 seconds and felt like shit after about 3 laps. I don't feel like running at all right now.

Meri very true. It was super cool but I wished we could have met when I wasn't leaving. I only got to talk with her for like 2 minutes and didn't even get a picture, but I did get to give her a hug! She was so nice.

It was awesome to meet you WTPJ!

It's okay Alex-- some days are on, some days are off... it sucks when an off day hits on a race, but it happens to everyone.

You got to meet WTPJ! Woohoo, I mean, she's like a celebrity in these parts.

There'll be another race.

Yeeeeaaaah Hippo - Nice one

kruss - Maybe slow down a little (15 seconds per mile). If I run 1:45 - 2:00 slower than marathon pace I can just keep going. But I have bought and paid for that with a lot of pain. I remember when I would first run 20 milers - I would get home stretch, eat and go to bet for a 1-1.5 hour nap - I just wiped me out. Also make sure that you are well hydrated and fueled the day before. Also make sure you have an ample water supply with you during the long run - I'm a little old school and strap a 70 ounce camelback on and usually drink it all.

Alex - I know it sucked - use it to motivate yourself - CC season starts like in 72 days.

Thanks-I'll try slowing down next week and see if I can go a little longer. Also I know I probably don't have as much water/gatorade as I should. I hate carrying/wearing things. I think I just have to accept that wearing the belt is part of running longer and eventually I'll get use to it. Thanks again
