A whole lotta runners showed up this morning! All but three were ahead of me and that's just fine! (I run behind a fast crowd)

8.5 miles in about an hour and twenty two minutes followed by a wonderful chai tea latté.

Two beautiful moments stand out on this perfect morning run:

The sunrise through the trees around the former Lake Powell.
And... only I saw this because everyone else had gone by already... two huge herons squawking and nipping at each other mid-flight across Lake Matoaka.

Excellent.

Okay, Rose beat me to the first post. Wish I knew how to delete mine! Maybe a moderator will help

Sounds like a great run, Rose. A friend is coming over soon to run with me. The "feels like" temp is 0, it's snowing and piling up so not sure how this will go. Plus I tweaked my low back Thur. night doing handstands in yoga. One mile at a time, right? However, we may not make it past one mile given my enthusiasm for this run.

OK I think I hurt myself figuring out how to do that.
Nice run Rosie. Choovie, sounds like a good day to stay inside and drink hot cocoa.

It's 33 feels like 23 here, which means it's windy. I am going to run in about an hour, take my old car to the carwash to spiff it up and go to the gym to do weights. MMMM........just reconsidered. It hasn't been this cold lately and not being used to it yet, I may just blow off the run and do all of my workout at the gym.

Ahem. My pace was appropriate for the distance and the terrain and for me... I am unashamed and would not punish myself for this run.

(hee hee hee)

As for the latté...here is what happened:
Ralph left town right after The Breakers Marathon in October, leaving me to my own devices thus, I drank no coffee. After a few days of wicked head pain, I rose like a phoenix out of the fire. I feel like a new woman!
The pain in abdomen decreased a little bit and I no longer feel tired in the afternoon!
And besides, chai tea latté is now my new favorite post winter run beverage. In fact, today at the coffee shop I announced "Yippee! I have a new favorite post winter run beverage!" Then I reminded my pals that the summer favorite is the fabulous and expensive Blueberry Pomegranate Smoothie.

SO MR. PIE! Put that in smoke and pipe it!

(just kidding )

Hi Rosy & Choovie!

Hally gets a lot of these because she's so cool:

Couch-sitting & newspaper reading for me today. OK, some xtraining, but -- eh.

rose....just chiding you for running "behind the fast crowd"....your pace was quicker than mine will be today....but I still think the latte is...."punishment"....and I don't see how anybody can smoke a blueberry pomegranate smoothie

econo....only problem I have with sub 10 is when I can't run it....which is quite often....and I know that grrrrrrr is just short for...."grrrrrrroooovy baby"..............*best austin powers accent*

You're all in fine form as usuall. 9.5 miles for me this morning in 75 degree weather and 30 mph steady winds.

Slipping off to drink a diet pepsi with Econo and finishing the Christmas lighting.

Tom - my sister in law who is 41 y.o came in to town last night with her first baby who just a couple months old. He just made crying and noise all night. Never really screaming mad but NEVER quiet either. Good for me to go home.

heading out for a wet, windy 6 miles. gee, sure would be nice if the forecasters were right, and both the rain and wind stopped for tomorrow's half marathon. the husband/wife team who lead a weekend group that i run with are helping us carpool, and he offered to take our drop bags from us at the starting line and bring it to the finish... what did we do to enjoy such great treatment????

up too late last night working on my running log. i haven't done any proper calibrations for my newest polar watch, and i knew my racing flats were giving me distances that were too long. turns out they are 3% off. then i looked at my training flats... i ran a couple of track workouts in them too... and they're giving me distances that are 4% too short. not a lot in terms of distance, but it means those 12 and 20 milers at 8-flat pace might have been more like 7:40 pace. i think. will run some track distance next week to see.

yikes, it's totally pouring rain. sixth day in a row with no sun... probably a record for tucson. it's like living in orreegguun or somethin...

MC - 6 days of rain? wow! we actually haven't had much here.

I'm finally feeling like I'm among the living! Hoping to try to get on the treadmill & do some walking, or crunches on the ablounger this weekend sometime. But need to take it slow, so my energy doesn't zap right out of me & relapse. This has been one horrible cold. But the sexy voice is almost gone... bummer!

But in the good news, breathing has not suffered.. love this new medicine! it just might be the thing to allow me to heal eventually. I'm in open enrollment right now & was thinking about changing from my high risk insurance (through Blue Cross mandated by the state) to works plan. So, was on the phone to Health Net, asking about getting the new medicine yesterday - the MOST important thing on the plan. I'll get it $10 cheaper yay!

Tom White - all that baby talk, brings back memories... no sleep for me, but ahhh when they're asleep, I'd find myself watching them!

Coffee - it sure is a different thing here in the PNW, amazing amount of coffeehouses. % wise there is a lot more per other businesses than down south.
