good early morning Meisters and Mastresses.

Meeting up with Johnny later this a.m. for a 9 mile run. He's starting earlier and getting in 4-5 prior to that for an even longer run.

This will make 4 days of running in a row for me, so looking forward to tomorrows rest day.

Morning guys!

Pie, thanks for starting our Intrepid thread in a way only you could. SNORK!
I'd be willing to start a weekly, if anyone's interested and it's permissible. I like having a weekly.

Just wanted to send speedy vibes to mc, millbot, hally, La T, dtoce, WRFB, PDR, Ileneforward, and Pro this lovely morning. (I think that covers the people who have dipped their toes in these Kickrunner waters.)

Back later with a track report.

Good morning everyone. No running for me again yet; still very sore calf. Last night we saw Tori Amos at the little theater at MSG and it was incredible; that woman is so erotic and powerful! Whoa, the estrogen surge in the audience was palpable. The opening act was this guy Yoav and his song "Club Thing" was great. Really unusual and got the whole audience going.

Gorgeous day here in NY. Should be a speedy race in Hartford for those running. Wish I was there cheering you on. I'm going to limp along to the dog park later with the dynamic duo.

I like Tori Amos too, Riley. Belgian waffles sound delish, Steve!

Very exciting weekend of races. Can't wait to see the reports but I will be out of town a few days so will be out of touch. Oh, I ran 9 miles with a friend this morning. We both felt sluggish for the first 3 - 4 miles but then started to get it together for a good 2nd half.

Army Drill Sergeant Coach felt I could move up a track w/o since I "missed" the last one. Where's the roll eyes smileyhead?

5(200, 800, 200) equal jog recoveries

200s ranged between 39.5 and 45
800s ranged between 3:09 and 3:17

I enjoyed every second. Gave it an effort but didn't push too hard; it helped having a partner to keep me honest. Good, long warmup drills are a must.

tomwhite, forgive me. I'd suggest sans HH tomorrow. Don't know why, exactly, but I'm thinking maybe your hip might prefer a lighter ride.
Happy napping, ksrnr.
Good going, choovie, on the 9er. I LOL'd at your post in the other place.

Okay, millbot, mc, Pro ... spill!!!!

Looks like I'm well on my way to completing another luxuriously aimless Saturday.
Woke up before he chickens, and listened to Phedippidations- I get kickout outa Steve Runner and hear some new tunes too.
DW and I got out early and headed to the farmer's market for some goodies including an albino cushaw. We made a few stops and then walked a coupla miles on the VCT. She was chomppin' at the bit to get back to do some quilting. Poor women is totally addicted. I ran home ( I can quite any time I want to).
Totally IRC, Be-U-tiful day. Decided to make Saturdays my Anything Goes Run Day. No Garmin, no tempo, stop and chat if I feel like it, chase butterflies or snowflakes, do cartwheels (the virtual kind), whatever.

The first really fun thing that happened, I stopped to stretch after a couple of miles and behind me come this Clydesdale (horse not runner kind) and rider trotting by. A few minutes later just as my ipod starts playing Heavy Horses, I catch up to them. I spoke to the rider and comfirmed it was part Clydesdale. I picked up speed and paced the pair for a half mile. The Clompety, clomp, behind me meshes with the soundtrack between my ears. They turned and head back to town.
I've still got a little Clydesdale in me I guess.

After a breather, another stretch, and about a mile. I catch a friend, (Bucky) out walking his dog. I walk with them a half mile, we catch up on kids and spouses. A herd of young stallion's pass us, (the local college track team not horse kind) a flume testosterone in their wake. Soon after, you guessed it, the philly's pass. I quickly disengage "Well I need to get going. I'll see you later Bucky. "
Black, red, burnette, and blonde, the four philly's are running about the right pace, no need to pass, I'll just lay back here 20-30 meters and enjoy the fine autumn views for a few miles.
They turned back just before my own trail exit. I stop at the confluence trestle and stretch. All the bikers passing remark about how low the rivers are. "Lowest I've seen 'em in 19 years, by cracky".
Decided to take the riverbottom path home instead of the over the hill and through the woods path. Picked a nice mess of greens along the way. I'm not sure the species. Not creasy greens for sure, but sweet and succulent, not a touch of bitter. A good peppery radish flavor. They'll make make a nice salette fer supper.

Well thats about as much fun as I can have in 6 miles or so.
Planning a big BRICK tomorrow. Better start eating now.
Have fun you guys,
Nice, JJJ, reaaaaal nice. You sure do know how to live (and can describe your Saturday perfectly).

I understand your DW's addiction. Although I've been away from it for a while, and I am not nearly as talented as most, like La Tortuga, for instance, I do like the sound of clacking bamboo needles from time to time.

tripleJ......nice relaxing day....except for the filly watching.......I imagine that part got the heart racing.

My head cold is in full force. It's one of those "if only I could cut my head off, I'd feel fine" things. 4.5 easy miles in the grass and I'm ready for the cold couch. Maybe I'll feel like a longer one tomorrow.

Nice track workout Sistah SS! TripleJay, I want a luxuriously aimless Saturday too! Seems like weekends are as stressful as weekdays any more. Pie, funny you mention my 9'er today. I had 2 runs this week: 3.25 and 9. Seems like my LR was a bit out of proportion to the rest of the week. LOL. Hope you can shake that head cold soon!

Nice Saturday run JJJ, I wish I could adopt your philosophy more often. I'm spending my weekend working. With all the travelling to races & running get togethers over the past few months, I need to get caught up. Being self employed sometimes sucks big time.

12.35 miles, the last 8.85 with the Tamster (there was an extra 1/4 mile in our first start before she took off her shirt and we had to back to the beginning to restart, and then we ran an extra lap at the track) finishing with a strong last 1.25 miles up a steep hill ala millbot fast finish™.

Went to the grand opening of the new running store in town and bought a dayglo lime green singlet to debut at the half marathon next week.

I see that everyone at Hartford did real well, congrats all around.

Remember Johnny . . . some things that happen on our runs . . . . stay on our runs . . . like me disrobbing . . . Sheesh, do I have to go over the rules with you again??

So, I ran 8.85 eh? I guess for VRAA purposes, that only counts as 8.75. It was a nice run. thanks for the company. I understand SS's sentiment of running with someone to keep you honest . . . or in my case, running with someone to keep me pushing it.

JJJ, I so enjoyed your post today. That's what running outdoors is all about . . . soaking in and enjoying what is happening around you. I love the detailed description of your day. Johnny likes sharing details too . . . sometimes too many . . .

I also went to the grand opening of the running store in town. They even gave my son a bag with a water bottle and a nice pair of nike socks. I bought a New Balance bonita running skirt and an Asics tech shirt. Not necessarily to go together, although they could. I think I'll wear the skirt at the Redwoods next weekend.

Hey Tamster, I have a running skort like that & like it very much except that the shorts part kind of creep up after 2 or 3 miles. Mine is not New Balance though, it's Road Runner Sports brand.
