7.54 miles for me....no neg split for me. ACK!

Shorts and short sleeves were a tad cool, but not unbearable. I was nice and pleasantly pink afterward.

Made it back in time to celebrate the b-day of one of our main dudes in the running group...someone brought coffee cake and we took over the back section of the coffee shop where we always eat on Sat morns. They all did around 12 in the time it took me to do my 7.5. (*sigh*)

Very frustrating mental run.....lonely.....all by myself.

Add to that the fact that it's one of the hillier routes.......
I'm going to do laundry, make a dent in some cleaning and veg out for some needed rest today.

Damn Flu is *still* kicking my ass. Slight headache is never more than a loud noise away, sinuses are acting up, body is still sore (or maybe that's from shovelling two driveways clear of snow piled at least 10 inches), and lungs are seriously beaten up.

Neil: Sounds like you have an awesome day ahead of you. Good luck with your team.

Me...

4 mile run early this morning.

Soul searching time for me. Was suppose to run the Hyannis Marathon tomorrow (I'm registered) as month number 18 in my Marathon-A-Month obssession, but I know I should gracefully let my number go. Getting through 10 miles would be a chore let alone a full marathon. But damn, it pains me to let the streak go, because I believed I could make it last to two years. Looked on MarathonGuide.com. Nothing next weekend, which would be March 1st/2nd but still close enough to February for me to count it then. Smart thing to do is to let Hyannis go. Thinking I might do just that and, if I recover rapidly enough from the Flu, then maybe next weekend I throw my own marathon.

Have a good weekend, Tri-peeps!

Thor think about whats ahead of you for the next few months

Training - wedding -honeymoon-London Marathon- IM etc etc etc

Forget about the Marathon tomorrow - You have done your own Marathon before - and remember just how special that one turned out to be - So if necessary you can do it next weekend - But NOT tomorrow

Think about what advice you would give me if the situations were reversed

You know that you should forget about tomorrow

Take care and heal fast

~1.5 hours of X-country skiing at a nature preserve near our house. Through the woods, along the river, over the fields. It was really pretty. Until I took a nose dive into the icy snow and scratched my face all up. I was tired and hungry, and heading back to the truck. That's when stuff like that always happens.

Then, 1 hour on the trainer. Did wk 9 of the training plan JR posted a while back, I can't remember the site, I book marked it on my other computer. Fast cadence, or something like that. Great workout.

That's it for me today. Thor, rest up. March 1/2 counts as Feb in my book. Hope you feel much better soon.

Tithers - did you stop to look at the porn? Bring it home for Don to review at least?

Wisdom. Feel better dude.

For me, 1hour "warmup run" of about 5miles and then 1:15 run "at HM race pace" for 6.5 miles. C/d -

total 2:20 run for 11.7-11.8 miles.

I have now re-adjusted my mental targets for my prediction of HM time for 3/16. Woot!

Thanks for the words, Neil. There's no question that I am 99.999% NOT going to go to Hyannis tomorrow and will instead rest up more in hopes to get better more quickly, but by me reasoning aloud, it helps me feel better about letting it go, even though that's what I'm going to do anyway. The tough part was that I was all set to race this thing. I prepared myself -- more mentally than the proper physical aspects -- of making an attempt at sub-3. Because I knew if I didn't do that at Hyannis, I wouldn't get a chance until May or June, because March will be a fun run at marathon distance while April will be two parties with London and Boston where, truth be known, I'll probably be hammered drunk by the time I hit the finish line.

Thanks, man! It helps me feel better about letting it go.

Long run for me this morning. Hard time getting motivated, knowing that I'd be doing a loop multiple times. We've had a couple winter storms, but the city doesn't seem to believe in clearning the roads. So, I drove to another neighborhood--a township that does believe in clearing its roads.

Very pleased with this run. WU/CD (getting to/from the loop) were 7:48 (icy), and 7:17 (melted off). Lap times were 22:22, 22:25, 22:20, and 21:48. Overall, 12m, 1:44, 8:37pace.

Drove home, changed shoes, then sat on the trainer for 45mins. Very little left in the tank and legs were rebeling. Luckily, there were some decent tunes on the radio so I wsa able to finish it out.

Thor - I bet the streak is tought to let it go. But that is the right thing to do. The next one will be close enough to be count as Feb. Life goes on.

3850yd swim workout. I am more mindful about high elbow and feeling water and my upper body knows that. But it feels like everybody in my lane is getting faster and I am not .

6.5-ish mile easy run this morning, followed by a couple hours of cleaning up roads with the adopt-a-hwy crew (crosstraining, yes?).

Feel better Thor - sounds like you've been battling this for a month!!
