Big house project this weekend/month ...pulling the remaining carpets out of 3 rooms and putting in hardwoods...woohoo, no more rugs.

Good running to everyone today.

Good morning to Roy, Peter and anyone else who drops in.

I'm trying to wake up (and get fired up) enough to run while I check weather.com. A friend and I are doing a new point-to-point LR route today and I fear it's going to be windy and possibly rainy. Rats.

Looking for someone to xc ski with tomorrow. Anyone want to join me? I bought new fitness skis on Thursday and itching to break them in.

Hello folks. Some nice outings already.

20 F, breezy
13 miles over the hills @ 8:53/mi

My hip is still bothering me from that fall on the ice. I feel it more when I'm walking than running. Strange.

Have a good weekend, all. Good luck to you racers, and safe travels to everyone doing that.

AA.. your running is consistently improving!

I think I dodged a bullet. he says while knocking on wood).. I thought I was coming down with an injury(front of knee and nerves in the foot associated with the ankle). It happened due to running on very banked, hilly roads (maybe 30 degree bank angle). Not good for knees or ankles... but it's my favorite route! So after the m-LR on Wednesday, things were sore and I took it really easy running slow on Thursday and Friday (ditching my m-LR on Friday and running 6 Magical Healing Miles). It was better Friday. Today I started with 2.2 miles with Tory nice and easy and nothing was complaining so I decided to do 6 more working up to GA pace. Nothing complained and it felt really good. Splits were: 8:20, 8:19, 8:07, 7:59, 7:47, 7:43. No front of knee soreness after and foot seems good.... Whew. I'll still go easy for tomorrow's 16-18 miler.

Good morning all. I got 6.23 miles in with 28f, sunshine and just a slight breeze. Beautiful. Much better than last weekend, I managed to unhitch the trailer attached to my behind!

Perch - sounds like a great run, glad it went well.
AA - your description of the weather sounds great!
Millbot - nice running. Hope your hip is better soon.
KS - great run. I don't know how you manage in the heat!
Choovie - hope the weather report was wrong and you had a nice run.
Peter - wow, that sounds like perfect running weather! I hear you on the floors, our downstairs is now all laminate and I love it!
Jogger - nice job on your run and coming in quicker than you planned.

Well its off to shower and a trip to the big city for Home Depot, Harbor Freight Tools and Costco. Have a good weekend all.

Some nice outings this morning. Hope all the weekend racers have good weather.

I volunteered at a local half marathon event this morning that traditionally is the victim of snow and ice. Today, it was just the opposite. I saw men without shirts, and women in tank tops. Some strange weather indeed.

I'm going to do a few miles this evening after I get through watching my Vols play Georgia in some hoops action. Good running to all.

Hey, all. It's quiet for a Saturday.

17.2 kind of rough km at Elk Lake today. Just never hit a rhythm. Oh, well. That's done.

Must go pack for Vegas.

Nice runs today. Good job dodging, Perch.

12.3 M @ 8:41 m/M. 10F at the start. Nice and sunny, so there was some melting by the end. Nice fast finish (last 3 under 8 m/M) trying to keep up with a local speedster (she was getting in 18 today--ha!).

More bad weather arriving tomorrow. At this rate, I'll have trouble getting in my February shirtless run.

I'm back

My GF and I had a nice 4 zipcode run of 14 miles which is a new longest run ever for both of us. We started at my brother's house and ran across the rims that overlook the city and on to my house. The weatherman was wrong about the rain but right about the wind. It took us 2:30 minutes but that time includes 1 quick potty stop, a couple of walking water/gel breaks, and 2 intersection stops. We were happy with our actually running pace which ranged between 10:00 - 10:30 per mile. Followed with 20 minutes of light yoga and a yummy scrambled egg and muffin breakfast made by me

Mustang, remember that what happens in Vegas stays in Vegas! Have a great trip.

Ksrunr -- 40 degrees here -- I think you win!

My gym is undergoing renovations and they're tearing apart the showers & women's locker room from Monday night through Friday morning. I might not be running much this week. Bummer! I can def. fit in Monday morning and Wednesday noonish (I can shower at the amubulance corps afterwards) but the other days are probably not gonna happen. Maybe I can fit in Friday morning if their work finishes up on time.....who knows. Actually that wouldn't be the worst thing in the world. Before you ask, I can't run outside right now - it's way too cold for these asthmatic lungs. It's gotta get over 45ish degrees out before I can do athletic stuff outdoors.

The weather looked like it was going to be warm, so Labduck and I agreed to NOT wear the matching yellow/green tie-dye tights.

Mistake! It was cold! But not too bad -- my fingers were no longer numb by mile 2.5. Both Labduck and I turned in a decent time (mine was 24:12, 6 seconds off my PR), but we were no match for the combined age team winner in the 90-99 category -- they both went under 20 minutes! Holy cow!

My splits were 7:47, 7:42, 7:55 :)huh, and 47 seconds. I wore a plain black running skirt & white top. The after-race spread included chocolate chip muffins and clam chowder! I also won a gift certificate to a hot tub spa place.

Take care of the hip millbot.
Back in the groove - 6 miles for me in 1:05:27.
Also ran 4 miles on Monday and Thursday as well as 3 miles on Tuesday. I got so busy with work I didn't have time to post.

AND I finally got my new shoes. My knees are happy.

Good runs all.

No run again for me, but the UPS driver (thanks hup ) brought me a belated Christmas present from DD1, a new yoga mat complete with carrying case. So as of now, I will be referred to as green mat. I broke it in with 30 minutes of yoga.

I've decided to bite the bullet and go see my PT buddy about the foot. He keeps asking my wife to get me to come in (I think he just wants a running buddy) so I guess I'll do it. I had thought that a month off would fix it, but not yet. (OK, it's been 3 weeks, but it seems like over a month) Now I'm wondering if it's some kind of nerve problem, or possibly some kind of deficiency due to me being a vegetarian that won't let it heal. I don't know, I take protein supplements & a bunch of vitamins daily,..... almost.

Nice race, econo & lab. Nice long run, choovie. Put me down for a yummy egg & muffin sandwich for Deadwood, please. (I actually don't eat eggs, but I'll make an exception)

Good runs to all.

good to hear the shoes are working out for you, anachrotech

After yesterday's "fabulous" TM run, I was feeling a little touchiness in the left heel toward the end of the day, but nothing major.

Until this morning.

Stepped out of bed and HOLY !&*%$%$#&$!!
Limped to the bathroom , then got on the 'puter for the confirmation... PF!

What was I thinking doing all those hill repeats this week. Here I've been sooooo careful not to add too much mileage too soon, but did I think about adding all that grade on the TM for two out of the three runs in the week...... NOOOOOO!
I am such an idiot!!
Now where's that ice pack and the vitamin I.........................((((fume)))))

Oh Hemerocallus (what does that mean, anyway?)... that is not good. Hope it's not a severe flare-up, but PF is never good.

Nice run, Choovie! And very nice after-run spread.

Econo and Labduck... you were a team? I guess I missed that part... so they combine your age and that's your AG? Hmmmm, interesting. Sounds fun!
We have a race here called the "Two-Way Torture Test" that I've wanted to do. It's 13.1 miles, so HM distance, with teams of two. Course is a circular trip up and around a ridge of hills ("Chena Ridge" and is incredibly steep and hard. One person goes one way, the other goes the other, passing somewhere in the middle. Times are combined and the winning teams get a gift certificate to the sponsoring restaurant. Never done it... need a partner...

I got out for 9 miles of hills today. Took a total rest day yesterday (just puttered around the house last night... oh it was fun!), and I thought my legs would be rarin' to go. But no, they were grumpy and tired and complained most of the way. Oh well, I did it in 1:21 for almost exactly 9 m/m pace overall. Temps were zero here at the house, -5 and breezy at the bottom of the hill. Forecast looking good for long run tomorrow....
