saddle...wwyd?

So, my trusty saddle has worn out....the cover has a couple of cracks in it the fake leather, one of them going all the way through. This is a kind of cheapo stock saddle that came with my kind of cheapo entry level road bike that I started out with. I now have my gorgeous Cervelo P2C, however the saddle it came with, well, lets just say it did not work for me. At all. So, I put my trusty old saddle on my new bike and all was happy until I noticed it was wearing out.

So, I can buy the exact same saddle, brand new, on eBay for around 30 bucks plus shipping. It is kind of a clunker, but it is comfy for me.

My question, do I go for the same saddle that I know works for me, or do I start shopping around for a higher end saddle more befitting of my new bike. WWYD?

1! Plus wasn't it JR who said that the mark of a true roadie was mismatched components?

Well......I have to say the P2C is worthy of a nice new saddle, after you have found one that you like of course. I remember when I first got my Kestrel and I had some old pedals I had become used to. They built it up and put on the old beat up pedals I gave them.......just didnt look right, like a sports car with beat up rims....JMHO

Frankenbikes, while not being flashy or efficient, shall always be stylish, in a rat-rod sort of way.

I'm go go out on a limb and say the exact same saddle won't feel the same if your butt hasn't spent hours on it breaking it in.

I would opt for new and improved with the thinking that old is old and and new old one won't feel as good as a new new one. HUH?

If you can find the exact same saddle on eBay and get it shipped to you for 30 bucks, I say do that. If you can't, take Sheldon's advice and get a better one.

I'm in the exact same boat. The stock saddle on my Specialized Transition Comp is wearing out and I need a new one. If I had boat loads of money, I'd either get a Fizik Arione Tri Saddle or a Profile Design (whatever that popular Tri-saddle is)... but right now I don't, so I will look for someone dumping their stock saddle, and if I can't find one I'll break down eventually and find a way to buy one of those listed above.

So, anyone have a stock saddle that came with your Specialized Transition Comp? Jr, I know your old bike is the same... did you ever use the stock saddle?
