1. Why do you run?
I love what it does for my mind and body. I'm no longer marathon training so my mileage is only in the 20's. I don't live in a place terribly conducive to high mileage.

2. What is your greatest accomplishment?
Probably that I raised two really wonderful kids without much help from their father. They have each married people I adore and are happy, healthy adutls.

3. What is your motto/theme song?
Never, ever, EVER give up.

4. How do you deal with bad runs?
I've been running for 10 year and have run 11 marathons, including Boston. Bad runs are simply part of it and I know the next one or the one after will be better.

5. Do you reward yourself for good runs? How?
Nope.

6. Who do you admire most?
I'm not one to be star stuck or do any hero worship.. I can't really think of anyone in particular I admire. I do admire anyone who gets knocked down (perhaps continually) and gets back up and goes after it again. And again.

7. What is the greatest advice you have ever received?
Always trust your gut instinct.

8. What do wish you had learned younger?
The value of a college education.

9. What do you wish you could do but can't?
Make a living as a photographer.

10. How would your friends describe your personality?
Quiet until I warm up. Very loyal and the best listener there is.

11. What do you wear running? favorite outfit?
Nike tempo shorts, Nike scoop back sports bra and my yellow Insport tank.

12. What has been your favorite race?
Hands down, the Honolulu marathon. I've run it 4 times. LOVE that race.

13. Do you have a goal race right now?
No, but I'm strong considering trying to get into NYC next year.

14. What makes you happy?
14,000 ft peaks. Snow. Colorado blue sky. My cat. My happy kids. A sense of accomplishment regarding anything.

15. I'd love that. This little fantasy does include never losing power.

Hi RunninTheRockies. My name is Tim. It's nice getting to know you better. All of the people that I have met from here and/or CR have been great people. And if you figure out how to infiltrate this group let me know.

What is it where you live that is not conducive to long distance running? Is it the snow?

Thanks RTR!

So where is your favorite place to run? Is there a trail or road or something you prefer the most?

Have you ever considered running PPM down by Springs?

Hi Tim! Yes, it's snow in winter, though that can be okay as long as it's not icy. I don't do ice, it always does me. Mostly it's living at 9300 ft. There isn't any air up here... and it always reminds me of that sooner or later. The lowest I can get is 9000 ft and the best runs are actually closer to 10,000 ft.
Argh. But, it's so freaking gorgeous up here, I can't leave.

A mountain that is over 14,000 ft high. There are 54 of them in Colorado, so far I've only climbed 7. I hope to reach the summit of a whole lot more of them. Being on top of those mountains is about the very best thing ever.

Hi Hippo!
My favorite place is a 5 mile run in the mountains, just behind Copper Mountain. Tough run as it is a climb that ends at 12000 ft, but SO GORGEOUS I adore it. Another great place is around Lake Dillon, but it's often got too many cyclists on it to be much fun.. they tend to be pretty rude I'm afraid... or on the Vail Trail that runs the length of I-70.

I was actually in the ascent this year, rather got in but didn't run it.. my mom was in the hospital. Next year!!

Well I do want to say you have awesome music taste. Those are some of my very favorite tunes.

Thank you for posting your answers to the questions. It's nice to get to "know" you a little better.

P.S. Don't be a stranger around here. We might be an odd bunch, but we don't bite...well not much anyway!

Awesome!!!

I've skied at Copper a couple of times, though that was before my trailrunning days.

I have to say that living where you do, PPM should be a natural. Only the elites run much of the ascent, and for the rest the local 14'er hikers routinely beat experienced fast marathoners from the flatlands. You should think about the full - doing the descent is like flying!

Do you XC ski in the winter at all?
