I am very sure, Sisu - thanks for asking. This will be my third cortisone shot (one was for morton's neuroma, and the other for the PF) and I have had nothing but great results from the first two. And no side effects, except that it threw my cycle off just a little. With the PF, I tried everything - NSAIDs, exercises, orthotics, etc and nothing worked. I went through 5 months of pain walking/running/biking before going to the shot. Within a week after the shot, I was walking and running almost completely pain-free and there was no swelling (which I had been having for months). For the first time in months, I could walk down the hall at work without limping, and I could run without thinking constantly about how much my foot hurt. I cannot believe I waited 5 months for that - my foot pain totally screwed up my stride, which is probably why my knee hurts. Now that my foot is pain-free, I can work on fixing my stride as soon as I can run again. I am not going to do another trial and error period when I already know what works for me.

I know everyone thinks I am crazy and stupid, and maybe I am, but given the history, it is my best option. I am not going to put my digestive system through hell again. And I am not going to quit running. I will continue to do the PT exercises and will cut my mileage back - I'll do just enough to prepare to run a good HM on March 15. I'll focus on the bike and the swim.

Yeah, it's going to hurt like a bitch for about 15 seconds, but it will be worth it.
