Good morning!

The usual run and workout for me this morning. I was a little tired though, I stayed up a little later than normal to watch the Patriots game-what a blow out!

Getting my training on track and signing up for the Eastern States 20 today. Looking forward to that race!

Hi Paul! I didn't watch the game but heard about it - blow out is right! I'm going to sign up for the Eastern States, too. I wonder if we would be able to run together? I'm hoping I can run 8:30mm pace or so for that one. If my training goes well I think that is doable. Do you have a pace or goal in mind? I'm also planning to sign up for our local 10mi race that takes place on Feb 6th. that one is always nice and cold! :)

I'm heading out for a run in a bit and I've got to do my PT exercises today since I did nothing yesterday. I've totally become a slacker on the early morning running. I was out with the dogs at 5:45 and I couldn't even imagine myself out there running in the total darkness. Living on a dead end road with woods on both sides with no streetlights makes for a really long, creepy 1.5mi to the main road! (this is how I talk myself out of running early in the morning!)

Good morning Sisu! I hate runnong in the dark, that's why I hit the treadmill so much. Enjoy your run later! I think an 8:30 pace would be good for me, I'll try not to slow you down! I'm already signed up.

DS2 had his 1st freshman BB game last night..he started and had a pretty good game! Their coaches make them dress up for school on game days...he has worn a shirt and tie, dress pants and dress shoes to school yesterday and today! I REALLY REALLY like game days! Spent a small fortune on dress clothes for the kid..but he looks so handsome and grown up!! Brings a little tear to my eye! Has another game tonight which I will miss because I am working pta bookfair at ds3's school tonight and have his conference! Hate to miss games but I guess once in a while it will happen! We have our ugly Christmas sweater party this fri! So excited but so much to do still...food, last minute stuff to pick up, etc! Gonna be a busy wk!

Suds...THANK YOU Pats...we needed the jets to lose!! YAY! We are ahead by 18pts for our couples league...if we can keep the lead for 4 more wks..we win $$$!! YOur consistency always amazes me! I need some of that!

Susan...that is exactly why I am having such a hard time getting out there...dark at 4pm here! STINKS! Mornings are too difficult to haul your butt out of a warm bed into the dark and cold!! and I have been too lazy to go at 8/9pm when our nights are winding down! Hoping I can find my mojo again over xmas break and get back into it!! Spring training is just around the corner!!

Morning Ron!! Whats the temp is sunny CA today??

Good afternoon! I just returned from running 4. Although I'm in Virginia it was in the 20's so it was chilly!! I don't know how I used to get up early in the AM to run outside when it's so dark and cold. Now I just take a few cycle classes a week in a warm gym at 6AM and run during the day or on the weekends. Not having a job helps with that.

The nasty holiday SIL emails have started- this time she was scolding my children for something I did so I had to reply back. Evidently she's witholding all future gifts for my children because she didn't receive a formal thank you note for their birthday gifts this fall (sadly the kids wrote them, I just never mailed them). She doesn't email, call, or respond to any gifts we send so it's all quite funny. I really could care less about the gift side of it, it's more the way she worded it. It's obviously my fault because a 5 year old can't really write and mail a thank you note without the help from a parent. I was good and wrote the reply, slept on it and then sent it. Her response should be interesting. I think I just helped WWIII in DH's family begin- that's what happens when you mess with my kids....family.....ugggg!!!!

Good news- I have a solid lead on a job. I'm keeping my fingers crossed it works out. One of my former clients, who is a managing partner at the firm is hand delivering my resume to the president of the company so someone might actually read it.

Hey Sudsy! Are you running on the TM in the early mornings? Did you get a lot of snow? We even got a dusting over the weekend.

SB- I completely understand how hard it's to run- in the AM it must be freezing where you are and then I'm sure your exhausted (and busy) in the evenings. Maybe you should try to get two runs in on the weekend and x-train during the week? It's not ideal, but that's what DH does in the winter and it seems to work okay.

Sisu- that's a long 1.5 miles in the cold and dark! How is the puppy doing?

Hey Ron!

I have a trail race I was convinced to run this weekend. Gaela is running it too- we have a team of 6 or 7 of us. Luckily only the top 3's times count. I've never run a trail race before-- any advice??

Hey Sisu, I took a video of Tank last night. He likes to take the collars off the dumbells when he comes into the weight room. Of course when I got my cell phone to film him, he stopped doing it. I have to keep screwing the collars back on whenever he comes in there. Hope it shows up here.

Hi all!

So I had a nice 6.2mi run this morning and I had a running first. I was running along and saw what I thought was a kid's book on the ground. It wasn't too far from one of our schools so my first thought was that a kid dropped a "Magic Tree House" book or something like that. I ran over to it and picked it up and realized it was a porno magazine! It was a weird black and white print that looked just like a book. When I saw what it was I dropped it so fast and ran because all I could think of was who touched it before me. EWWWW!! So that's got to be one of the strangest finds ever for me on a run.

SB - must be cool to see your ds looking so grown up although I know it's bittersweet. Have fun at the bookfair :) My ds has his this week, too.

Jen - the puppy is doing great! Such a nice calm little guy and we all just love him. He still chews a lot and has destroyed a few things but nothing too important. What a bummer about your SIL. I'm really lucky that both sides of our family all get along and we don't have to deal with people like that. Good luck with your resume!

Ron - hope you have a good day today!

Paul - I would be the one slowing you down! I think I can run that pace for 20 miles but we'll see. That is my goal marathon pace someday but we know how those last 6.2mi can change things!

Jen that is a better idea then not running at all! The problem is to do any cardio I would have to go to the pool or my gym which is what I am not getting to durring the wk right now to run on TM...lol! :) Very crappy deal with the SIL....karma will bite her in the ass someday!! :) and you were right to speak your peace...I have a hard time keeping my mouth shut when it comes to my kids....just ask the lady in kohls 12yrs ago who had the nerve to scold my son bcuz he was hitting a button on some musical halloween decoration that they had sitting out!

Suds they do grow up quick! :( I will take pics of the party! I wish I could have invited all of you!! I am excited to see everyones sweaters!!

I just need to get my butt in gear and get out there! QUit the excuses! A friend of mine from hs just emailed she is coming home for christmas this yr and wanted to know if I wanted to get together to run a few times, her parents live very close to me so it will be perfect and it will be fun to catch up with her....she has been in the army for 20+ yrs and has not lived around here so we really lost contact. I hope having a partner over break will force me out there and then that will continue once i go back to work after break! I knew this yr would be tough with J starting HS sports and not being able to get out until after 6-6:30 every night!

Sisu...EWWWWWWW!! YUCK!!! when you said how it was so close to a school, reminded me of the time my nephew arrived at school from the bus and promptly went to his moms classroom (my sil) to inform her he saw naked women on the bus that morning!! A little boy had stolen a playboy from home, brought it on the bus and had show&tell with it!! :) My sil about died...my nephew was about 3rd or 4th grade!

That is awesome Paul!! What a smart dog!! I bet you can teach him to get you a beer from the fridge :eek:ccasion5: He is a beautiful dog - thanks for sharing that!

SB - that is funny!! 3rd or 4th grade - yikes! I think that having someone to run with can really help to get back on track. I found a couple of people to run with on weekends and they are training for Boston, too, so that should help me to stay a little more motivated.

Staci it should be nice out. I will just never know. It looks nice from the window anyway. I hear it will be in the low to mid 70's for the next week.
