I was supposed to watch a movie last night, but I fell asleep. I don't even think I made it to 8:30 p.m. The good news is I woke up at 4.

The bad news is I fell asleep before charging my garmin. How long should I charge it for? I want to run NOW!!!!!
Batmomm - Your are not going to freakin believe this...DD#2 has student of the week this week too. And we have to do a poster too. (insert twilight zone music here)
Suds and Ty - Where are you? Sleeping in? On a Saturday? Come on!

OK, I give Suds some slack. He doesn't have to work today. Yay!

But, Ty, you're running 24. You need to get up, NOW!!
I talked to DH last night that I'm having a hard time and he is giving me a huge break with the amount of running I'll be doing the next 3 weeks, til I taper. So, for the Saturday LSDs, since he doesn't work, I can start running when it's daylight out instead of hitting the DM at 3 or 4 am. Now, tomorrow is a whole different ballgame.
Jen, walk slowly for 0.5 then gently stretch your calves, then do it again a little fast and stretch... and on and on...avoid hills or incline for now. Try to massage your shin. It will hurt, but you shoould work on the tightness. Concentrate on the lower calves. If you have the stick, use it. If not, just massage it with your hands. Put some cream or gel on and press it sliding down, stopping on the lumpy spots. Your pain could be shooting because there may be some unconscious overcompensation (or trying to hold your gait too straight to secure your foot), it could be the same side, it could be the other side, doesn't matter. Massage your foot and make sure it is pretty mobile. Hold your forefoot and rock it sideways (does that make sense?). while doing that, I'd take some NSAIDs if you are not taking anything now. This could be a long shot, but my foot (the twisted one) caused severe tightness of my calf because I had to work really hard with the amount of twisting I was doing at Swinging Bridge.

Nicole, 2:15 is not realistic for you. You can run faster. 2:15 was the time for my 1st HM (it was the same flat one that Ky ran), but I was running a 10:00mm 5K at the time. You have time to work on it too. If it was me, I'd shoot for 2:00 or 2:05 worst case scenario.
Hi Alemma, Ty, and Chosha! I was supposed to get up earlier but the stupid fuckity gym doesn't open until 7- but I have to be back to get DS to soccer by 8:30 which makes it rough to get my miles in. My shin is really, really red and puffy from my little freezer burn yesterday- DH just shakes his head in disbelief. Oh well.

Ty- thank you so much for the advice. I don't think it's a run stopper now, but mentally I'm paranoid. I'll try your tips. You're the bestest!!!! Congrats on being able to run a little later in the day. You need your sleep.

Good Luck Chosha's DS!!!!
Jen, the massage will really help you, specially if you do it consistently before and after your run... Any time of the day that I have a chance, I do it too. I'm struggling with cramps from the hip all way down to my foot (not when I am running, thank goodness)and as soon as they start, I immediately start the massage. I press it really hard until it stops. It hurts like a sumvubitch, but it has been decreasing the problem.
Sorry you got a freezing boo-boo... What are you putting on it? Use some Aquafor. It's my favorite.
Next time I decide to run a 50M, if I do, I better budget my shoes correctly. I counted on 6 weeks/pair but my mileage will hit in barely 5...
Last night DH and I were budgetting my gear expenses to stock up if we some day move to Brazil (I don't think I can get my shoes there and a pair of good Nikes/Asics cost around 150/200 dollars since they are imported... Just to be covered for the initial months it would be interesting...
oh, and today I start drinking G2 during my runs... trying to drop the sugar. It has only 7g/8oz against 14g from the regular gatorade. So for one of my regular long runs, that means around 84g instead of 168g from the regular stuff. I think my tummy will be happier towards the end of the runs...
Good morning everyone! Taking a running rest day due to the kidney stuff, so in a few I'll do some Pilates and maybe upper body.

Alemma-hope you're having a great run!

Jen-hope your shin feels better!

Cho-Good Luck to DS!!!!

Ty-hope you're having a great 24!!!!
