I still feel wiped out from track yesterday morning - methinks I shall take a day off today, especially given that this Monday night is SHOWDOWN NIGHT! It's the final night of the low-key track series, and the final event is the 2 person, 4 mile relay (alternating 400m). Team Cobra Kai is back to defend our title (best of teams involving members of The Lads). Some of the other teams have shuffled their membership around a bit in an attempt to beat us - we shall see!

morning

5 miles this morning. Humidity sucks. The run was fine, but man was I drenched. I wish my pool was open this early in the morning -- I'd finish each run with a jump right in.

Nice run last night, Duck! Yay for pain-free, Noni! Sucks about your hammy, Jen -- heal up!

Morning gang -

Sounds humid out east. It was 65 and beautiful when I ran this morning. Got 8 miles done, which is officially the farthest I've run since Illinois. I may try to do something longer tomorrow morning, but I have a feeling beer and crappy food at the cabin tonight is gonna interfere with running tomorrow morning!

Jen - are you coming to the cities at all while you are here? Really sorry to hear your hammy is screwed up. Think how crabby you would be to be down in the florida heat though - at least you can recover up north with your family!

Anyone racing this weekend?

5 miles, in the same type of conditions that Kath had...73F, 85% humidity. Felt much better than I though it would. Need to start eating at least a little something before runs in the morning though...could feel it at the end.

I decided it was too warm to run this morning so I swam in my pool instead. Good choice! It was so nice! My arms are all jello-y now, too, so that gets me thinking they needed some work. I still feel like I cheated myself out of a run, though, so maybe I'll go later if it cools off enough and I have the energy.

I hope it is okay if I start posting here. I am a lapsed runner coming back to it after several years away and could use the company and support. You are an inspiring group!

Short strengthening session yesterday - gave the ankle one more day off. Today I'll go out to test it out and if things are okay, I'll get in a longer run sometime this weekend.

Noni - yay for a pain-free run!

Welcome, Vidalia! Everyone's welcome here.

Got in 5 miles and a lot of heavy thinking on the TM this morning. It was a struggle until I had a breakthrough and then it got WAY easier. I'm really experiencing the belief that the brain is the hardest muscle to train.

I just read about Voodoo Junkie. I knew him from Cool Running back in the day, the old 30s newbies thread. So very sad. He was such a nice person and really the core of that thread for a long time. I was fully expecting to find him on one of these sites today. I have thought of him often over the years.

Good morning all! I had a kickass start to my day; met up with Elyssa & Eissa (two local NYC runners) and logged 12.55 miles running from downtown thru Chinatown over the Manhattan Bridge into Brooklyn, around the new Brooklyn Bridge park, up into the Heights and back into Manhattan via the Brooklyn Bridge. We continue downtown, dropping off Eissa and stayed southbound rounding out in Battery Park and then headed up the west side path along the Hudson. Fantastic route that I have not pieced together before in that way and great company. Makes everything and anything else that happens today less challenging and all the more enjoyable!

Welcome Vidalia!!! We all loved and miss Voo. He was the best.

Noni - yeah, for pain free.

Yesterday - went out for 6 ez after work in horrid conditions. Started feeling naseous about 3 miles in. HR was zooming off the top of the chart too. Called it early and cruised it back to the house @ 4.4 miles.

So, I set my alarm for 5:30am so I could go to the track and run mile repeats. However, I got very little sleep and when I wasn't asleep @ 2:19am I reset my alarm to get ready for work, so no early run. I'll go to the track this afternoon and slog out whatever I can in the heat of the day. Ugh!

Yeah, where's the throw up smile?

Hi guys.

I got out for some fast miles this morning with the pup. At first I thought I'd melt in that humidity but then it wasn't nearly as bad as I originally thought.

solar - jumping in the pool post-run is one of the best perks of being a pool owner. I love ending my runs that way.

Tim, smart move calling it quits yesterday. You never know how the heat is going to effect you.

Hello and welcome, Vidalia.

Speaking of racing ... the calendar is empty. Anyone want to let me know what's on the race docket so that I can add them to the Info Spot thread?
