GREAT weekend mud runs and races, gang! Mindi--I'm supposed to ask how the water stop was.

Jill--24 miles is just...well...wow. I'm really so impressed with your running.

Brandy--did you do the Ortho 1/2 thingee? I thought about it but so expensive and wouldn't have been able to, anyway.

I'm a bit better today--finally--this stuff has been cruddy. Ran 5 yesterday that felt like 25--gack.

Water stop was great, but certainly not the highlight of the race. We stopped and got water. Success, no?

Yeah for feeling better, Crane! Hope the week goes well for you.

Busy morning for me. Ran 5 miles. Showered to get into work early because I have insanely long to-do list. Hit a deer on a highway, killed it, ruined my car. Happy Monday to me! Uggggg.

Nice running and racing this weekend!

Looking at the results of my 5k this weekend, I see that the overall winner was 14 years old (17:47) and the overall female winner was 13 (19:24). I got beat by a whole bunch of young whippersnappers...

I only ran 89.2 miles in October. And only 58.3 miles after the Twin Cities Marathon on Oct 3. Part of that was becuase I was sick and didn't run for a week. But even so, I just really slacked off. My longest run in the last 4 weeks has been 6.7 miles. Sooner or later I'm gonna have to get back into it. Maybe I can get in a decent run today and start November off on the right foot, so to speak...

We saw a really large doe this morning during outdoor boot camp class. Oh, and one of the new guys that just started coming to class told me I was ridiculous during the (ridiculously hard) abs. I get a perverse pleasure from that... I really do.

Morning. Looks like some pretty solid running over the weekend (I'm sure I'll miss somebody, have not had my coffee yet).

RTFL and Bob - Nice work on the 5ks.

Moon - that run looked like a blast.

Mindi - Great race and a nice PR. That really sounds like you ran the perfect race. You've been training hard and it all paid off.

RTFL - At least you were ok. I was driving down to St. Peter on Saturday and I was lucky I didn't hang out in the fast lane. Twice as I came around a corner or over a hill, there was a deer standing in that lane.

Jill - That's a long ways. I maxed out at 20 this time. Oh wait, I did 23 a few weeks ago. I fibbed. Nice work. What are you goals for Philly?

As for me, decent weekend of running. Went down to southern Minnesota for a 5k. Very tough course and I ran my third fastest time. Very satisfied with that. I feel like I'm peaking at the right time.

Yesterday went out for my last 20 miler. Coach decided it would be fun to throw 13 miles of marathon paced work in there. I was fine for most of it, then my mind played tricks with me and made me stop for :30. Grrrr. I got mad at myself and finished the run strong and fast. Overall I was satisfied with it.

Nice weekend of racing\running. Congrats to RIL, boB, and Alaire.

Got my stiches out this morning. Gonna hold of running for another week, but I can start doing other stuff (stationary bike, etc. 0 no stairmaster, that bends the toe too much). Hopefully I will not have lost too much fitness.

Awesome weekend of running by you all!!! I didn't do a lot myself but will live, NYCM is next weekend! Today I have an evening at the yoga studio planned...yay!

Fantabulous race Mindi!!!! Soooo very happy for you!

More BIG ups for Ailarie, Cindi, Baggs, Alexis, Moonie and boB!!!!

(((Alexis))) – sounds like it wasn’t the race you wanted but don’t worry – there’s always another!

Moonie & Mindi – the mud/adventure runs look like sooooo much fun! I definitely need to find one!!!

Lora – congrats to sis!

Jill - nice LR!

Cindi – oh no! My friend and I hit a deer coming home from college one weekend, what an awful event L

Litch – yay for no stitches! How’s it feeling?

Maria, I think you need to insert more exclamation points into your post... You seem, I dunno, uninspired today.

And thanks. Definitely not the race I hoped for. In fact, as I ran by a large crowd of spectators at around mile 4.75 or so, I screamed (to my friend but so everyone could hear), "I hate #&%ing running!!" Got a big laugh. So while I completely SUCK as a runner, at least I can still make people laugh.

You actually didn't beat me by all that much. I ran 71. But then I'm intentionally running low. I'll probably keep it low at least through Nov (maybe Dec too, depending on my hips and back) and then start slooooooowly ramping back up. Yeehaw.

RFTL - Sorry about your car. Glad you're ok.

That's my biggest fear with the new commute. I see deer every morning and my head is on a swivel for the first few miles, especially when it's foggy.

Yay for stitches being gone!

I did 1.5 miles on the underwater treadmill this morning at 15 min/mi pace. It was pretty strange and they put the jets on me a little so there was plenty of resistance. It took me a while to find a form that somewhat resembled fast walking with my arms tucked in rather than using them as outriggers.

Cindi - boo! what are horrid way to start off the week

Great job on those races peeps!

As for me: 184.4 miles in October. New shoes are NOT working out and I need to return them. They feel too stiff and my right heel is paining me grumble.

Yesterday I overdid it for sure. 10 mile run followed by 90 min of yoga followed by a 3 strikes lifting session (you get 3 changes to make it to 30 reps, when you fail, you get a 30 sec break). Luckily before the weights I was able to get some Jamba Juice. That english muffin at 6 a.m. was long gone!

Melissa - nope I didn't do it...I agree too expensive for my blood. Good thing I didn't because from what I hear there were some severe logistical issues. They change the course from a loop to a point to point. It was a nice day for a run but not for standing in wet clothes next to a windy lake for 2 hours waiting for the shuttle to take you back to the start. Yep, 2 hours. You could WALK to the start almost in that time. I would have just walked the 3 miles home

Well, yeah. This was my first month under 130 since February, which is when I had a whole bunch of... um... health issues.

But I suppose it's not a bad idea to take some downtime every now and then. And despite everything that's gone on for me in 2010, I still have a shot at my highest-ever mileage for a year. Last year I did 1605.6 miles, and I'm now at 1341.0 for 2010. That leaves me 264.4 miles to go. Since I'd done over 130 miles for 7 straight months, I should be able to average about 130 for these next two. I'll be quite happy if I get a new year-long PR with all that went on this year...

Hello all - they just posted the results with the Warrior Dash, and I'm pretty happy with them. For the 3.5 mile course, I timed out at 27:22 (7:49 pace). I was 547th out of 5,747 (top 10% of all finishers) and 36th out of 322 in M40-44 (top 11% in my AG). Can't wait to see the photos.

As far as running this month, I don't think I hit 80 miles. But that's all good - I'm planning on taking two weeks off of all running at this point, and then kinda' get the legs back working for the turkey trot race. I figure if I'm going to really shift gears, I should do it full bore. If I hit 1200 miles for this calendar year, I'll be satisfied
