About 3 weeks ago Brian (10) decided he wanted to join Mommy and friends to run the Jingle Bell 5K. We started training and I can't tell you what a joy it is to run with my son. He looks up at me and says "Mom, I love you, I love running with you, we should do this all the time". We have chats about everything and the one on one time is great.

So today was the race. I was a little worried as he is super duper competetive and I was afraid he would get discouraged. I also knew he would likely take off too fast. I told him I would set the pace until 1.5 miles in and then if he wanted to turn it up we would. We were running probably 9:30/9:45.......he did get super mad when people passed us. I kept explaining that yes there are people in front but there are also lots of people in back of us too! Any how, he turned it up a bit and for the last .2 took off. He had a great strong finish and beat Mommy fair and square ( I cannot sprint for the life of me!) He was very proud of himself and is already to find another race and PR. HOHOHO!!!!!!!!
