<span style="font-family:'Trebuchet MS';">Race : Duathlon Run/Bike/Run 7.5km/30km/5km</span><br><span style="font-family:'Trebuchet MS';">Race Venue : Clark, Philippines</span><br><span style="font-family:'Trebuchet MS';">Race Date: March 16, 2008</span><br><br><span style="font-family:'Trebuchet MS';">Splits: 34.45/1:07:14/24:39 – 2:06:38</span><br><span style="font-family:'Trebuchet MS';">Results: 51/118 overall, 3/13 AG</span><br><br><br><br><span style="font-family:'Trebuchet MS';">Prior to the race I was aiming to finish in the top 3 for my age group, hoping to close under 2 hours. While I ended way above 2 hrs, I very am satisfied with the result and stepped up to my first podium ever.</span><br><span style="font-family:'Trebuchet MS';">last February, I completed Round 1 of this race in 2:04:52. This time</span><span style="font-family:'Trebuchet MS';">, I was slower of approx 1 minutes for each of the run legs.</span> <span style="font-family:'Trebuchet MS';">I had recently problems with my GPS and the device just refused to turn on just prior to the race, even if the battery was fully loaded. So without GPS, it was a little harder to pace myself and manage the race. I also messed up my T1 pretty badly: lost time in fixing my helmet and did not enter properly in my shoes during the first yards of the bike course.</span><br><span style="font-family:'Trebuchet MS';">Still happy with my race and very proud of my little medal.</span><br><span style="font-family:'Trebuchet MS';">Thanks for reading.</span>

Re: the GPS, in time, you'll learn to pace without it. BTW I never thought I would say that either. I ignored my watch yesterday in my race except for mile splits (Which I could have gotten from the guys standanding at a few of the markers). At some point, ya just gottta GOOOO <img alt="biggrin.gif" src="http://files.kickrunners.com/smilies/biggrin.gif"><br><br>
Anyway, great race! Since it's your first hardware<img alt="notworthy.gif" src="http://files.kickrunners.com/smilies/notworthy.gif">, you are allowed to wear it for 1 week and tell everyone you know, a minimum of 3 times. 4 woudl be, you know, over the top <img alt="cool.gif" src="http://files.kickrunners.com/smilies/cool.gif">

Hmm, double it and add 32 = low 80's F, ouch...<br><br>
Did you feel more strength on the bike from your new workouts or is it too early to tell? I bet you could find 5 minutes on the bike pretty quickly with just a little work on your position and leg strength.

Yes, I felt tronger. This time, I took the same rolling hills holding on lower gears and keeping the aero position.<br>
The course has also a long descent and I took it on the lowest gear, but that was still tough and felt cramps.<br><br>
Wednesday I'll go back on training. Thanks for asking.

Nice race! Congrats on your first HW! That had to feel good.
