Perhaps we can start somewhere in the eastern end of the continental US and run west and then up through part of Canada and end up at the Start line of the Equinox Marathon. EQ is going to be running that this fall. Good motivation for all of us?
How about starting at EQ's house and then running to El Dude's house and then running to the EQ marathon in AK? That sounds like a nice run to me. If there are people along the way, add their town/city to the route....
I'd love to run in Che Guevara's footsteps. It's a little farther from Buenos Aires to Venezuela, but maybe we can start in Chile, where his motorcycle broke down? Or go a little longer. I'll offer free translation services.
Here's a rough proposal. I'd like to do Route 66. By itself, it's 2400 miles, so not really long enough.

We finished in Maine, sohy don't we start there? We could follow the route of the Boston & Maine railroad from Portland to Boston. I think the NYNH&H route then goes from Boston to Albany (working from memory here). We take the NY Central RR to Chicago. From Chicago, we roll on Route 66. After reaching California, we take Route 101 and/or I-5 up to Portland or maybe Seattle. We could certainly visit Vancouver BC and Calgary or perhaps take the Alaska Highway if we need to lengthen out.

I like the to the EQ marathon idea...

OR, another choice is to give a nod to our overseas members and do a VRAE (Europe) or something. You can cover a lot more countries in the same distance over there.
