I'm borrowing a theme from Jebba's post about bumper stickers...

Is it just a Georgia thing or do other states have drivers that display stickers in their rear windows commemorating the death of a loved one?

Ex: One of my son's HS buddies died in a car wreck a five years ago and you can still see window stickers with his initials and year of birth and death.

We see quite a bit of it here in this town, but I don't know if it is common in the rest of the state. I don't remember ever seeing it until I moved to Lebanon (about 10 years ago) and I've lived in MO for 23 years total.

I see them from time to time here in Oklahoma.

I even saw one the other day from when Dale Earnhardt died. I'm all for remembering those that passed on, and for all I know maybe it was a close friend or relative, but I remember thinking it might be time to let it go.

I see them from time to time. While its certainly kind to remember those that have died, I'm not sure I'd want to be remembered in this way!

When I first started at the coroner's office many, many moons ago, a very popular girl from one of the local high schools was killed in a car accident. 6 years later, there is still a roadside memorial at the spot of the accident.

I see them around here a lot. I have not done a study on the matter but the cars sporting these sorts of things (at least around here) generally belong to hispanic families. Maybe its a cultural thing....

I see them and I like them. I've seen LAFD fire trucks with memorial stickers for Lane Kemper and expect to see them for Brent Lovrien the firefighter that just died. Where I live in the Inland Empire, many of us have stickers in memory of Engine 57, the 5 firefighters that were killed during the Esperanza Fire.

As for Hispanic families, yes, many of us do have them. We like to honor our dead very publicly. I realize many people think it is wrong, weird, whatever but hey we even go all out for the Day of the Dead. It is what we do. Often times in Hispanic families the memory of a loved one is kept alive as long as we live. We openly talk about people that have passed away long ago as if they were just here with us. Visits to cemeteries are also frequent too.

As for stickers, you folks should see all the Our Lady of Guadalupe stickers on cars. We have many of those as there are many Mexican Catholics here in Southern California. I really love those they are beautiful to me.

when I saw this thread I thought it was literally...rolling memorials. Because there is a man around here who has a coffin-like box on a hitch behind his truck to honor his son who died in the Gulf...it's very sad.
