Morning!

While some people ran marathons over the weekend, I was a slacker (against my will thankyouverymuch). I ran 8.25 on Saturday, but my planned 20 miler on Sunday had to fall by the wayside so I could get some work down. I ended up working until almost 10:00 last night.

Today is my planned rest day. Another super busy day, but if I can swing it, I will grab a short run or spin tonight.

I ran the annual Louisbourg Slush Run on saturday and came out with a shiny new PR! 5 miles: 42:42! It was a gorgeous day and I felt really good the whole run. Had lots in the tank. It made up for that crappy half I did last month.

Congrats to the marathoners this past weekend!

Morning all! My regular Tuesday running partner and I have moved our standing date to Monday mornings so I got out today for a perfect start to the week - 7.8 miles and feeling strong! Will be hitting the yoga studio this evening.

Yay Colleen!!!!

Go Missy! ...it's a little deceptive weather-wise today (windy but sunny, warmer but nottoomuch although humid) - have fun!! And let's try to get together soon for a run, would have liked to have scheduled a visit yesterday on our way home from CT but we got caught in a crazy rain storm and were traveling a bit later in the evening than we'd planned.

Mindi - are you in a busy season or with a big trial? I can certainly sympathize, work has me going at 1000% everyday lately. Argh!

Good morning and way to go on the PRs!!!!!!!!

Yesterday I ran for a little over two miles. It was my first 2 miler in a long time. It was brutal but I made it fine. More of a mental thing than physical but you know how that goes. I have completed week 2 of the One Hour Runner program. Tomorrow I start week 3 which is really still the base building phase of the program. I played around with the Garmin built in personal trainer. I think I will like that feature. My plans are to use it to slowly build up my speed on one of my three runs per week. Then I hope by default I get used to the faster pace and thus improve overall. Either way I am going to attempt to get this slow poke to step it up a bit and improve the mph/pace.

I had a good week last week. Nothing great as in totally keeping all of my goals but I did much better. I completed my 3 runs, half of my scheduled home gym workouts, did horrible by skipping ab workouts and I ate better. A mixed bag but an improvement. Out of curiosity I weighed this morning. I am down 3.4 pounds since I last weighed at the end of last Month. That is encouraging as I am struggling and looking for something positive to keep me going. I will try to not weigh again til the end of the month but if I behave I should see a couple of more pounds go away. I hope so. I am trying to take baby steps and set short term goals. The first goal is to leave the 230s behind. Today I am at 230.8. My worst weight ever was my last weigh in at 234.2. I want to keep consistently battling. Next goal would be 225. Then lets get in the 210s, etc.

I am still struggling to find an ab workout that I enjoy (if possible hehe). For lack of anything else I have considered dusting off that old pilates dvd with it's 30 minute workout. I could do that about 2 or 3 times a week but it is no bundle of joy either. ROFL. I'll come up with something. The good thing is I am almost back in the running groove. For me that had a positive effect of motivating me to incorporate other workouts for better health- home gym and ab work.

Have a good one all.

morning

This weekend SUCKED for fitness for me. I did 5 miles on Saturday. I wanted 6 or so but I chose to do hill repeats as tempo work on my hometown streets was not advisable. About 2/3 of the way up the hill I chose, I realized that maybe it wasn't the bestest choice. I was DYING. The hill was like .18 or so but steep. I went in thinking I would do 8. I barely made it through 4. Blah. When I got home, I was talking to my parents about it and this was the conversation:

Me "So I did that hill going up to the Evergreen development. It is too long to be that steep"

My Dad "yeah, when they were building that there was a lot of discussion that it was too steep and unsafe. I mean it is a 12% grade."

Ok. that makes sense why it was TEH SUCK.

I was going to do a shorter long run on Sunday and got up to 5 inches of snow. Now, the day prior I was running exclusively down the middle of the road to avoid ice...so add snow = certain death wish. I opted to leave early and get home in time for something. The snow followed me and made a 5 hr drive, 6.5 hours. I came close to a very bad snowplow accident. I then came home to significant cat litter box issues which resulted in the removal of a 5 x 4 foot section of carpet from our bedroom. ZTime left for run ..hmmm.. about 15 minutes.

Then I lifted, went home, ate dinner, went and picked up DH from the airport, drove his dad home and then got home at 10:15. sigh.

Hopefully today will be nicer to me.

CONGRATS, Clare!!! Great job!

Congrats also to RFTL and Bob on successful 26.2 mile journeys this weekend. Be nice to yourselves this week (and maybe next week too!).

Congrats on the weight loss, Maples. I'm sure I've found your 3.4 pounds (see below).

Skipped workouts galore over here. I have slept maybe 10 hours since Thursday. No energy to do much of anything. I am on the verge of tears. So very tired.......

Congrats on the PR, Clare!

Keep up the good work, Maples.

Thanks for the congrats, guys. I'm feeling pretty good today. Right now I'm at a rest area on I40 somewhere in eastern Arkansas on my way back to Memphis. There's a whole lot of nuthin around here. I think I feel good enough to run today, but I think I'll skip it. Instead, I'll just eat and drink a lot.

Have good runs today, everybody!

Brandy, I wish I knew. I've been battling pretty significant insomnia for years. Probably close to a decade. Prior to this weekend, I was actually doing pretty well (for me) -- about 5 hours of sleep per night for the past two weeks. This weekend, though, I was back to my old tricks.

LOL at Bob's travels through the rural South. If you hear the banjo music start, hit the accelerator.

Little miss evil and 30 minutes of walking on the treadmill. Saturday's rescheduled long run didn't happen on Sunday either. We tried, but the ice was too bad. We did The Firm Cardio Max instead. Now we're going to attempt the long run before work tomorrow, little miss evil on Wednesday, bike on Thursday and this week's long run a day early before J leaves on vacation. I'm sore and tired already!

I don't like Memphis but I have to give them credit for some great BBQ. You are about an hour ten minutes North of me. Come on down I-55 Bob and hang out at work today.
