<p>UGA VIII, who served as the UGA mascot for only one year died today from lymphona.   I sincerely enjoy the UGA mascots on the sidelines during the games.  Condolences to the Savannah family that raises the Bulldogs for UGA mascots and to UGA alumni and fans.</p>

<p>Didn't Uga VII die young also?  Uga IX had better watch out...</p>

<p>Maybe they need a greyhound or at least something more nimble than what they've had.</p>

<p>Bulldogs do have a lot of health problems.  The Savannah family that raises the mascots has had a couple of recent ones to die fairly young.  The stand-in Bulldog until they can get another one ready is 9 years old though.   But he has only served in the capacity of stand-in, never the official mascot.  I'm not sure why.</p>
