Boston bicycle legend Sheldon Brown has passed on. Though I knew he had some health challenges, his recent journal entries forshadowed no imminent demise so I'm not sure what the scoop is. No details available yet. His technical articles live on.

That's sad He was a wealth of cycling knowledge - I used lots of information he published when building my fixed gear trainer, and also when setting up my single speed mtn bike.

I am saddened by Sheldon's passing but I will continue to enjoy his thorough but plain English and yet still humorous technical articles. What a wealth of knowledge and a passion for biking he had. He really seemed to know what it was all about.

Sad, sad news. His site will remain as a tribute of sorts, but it would be nice if the bike community at large could do something to commemorate his contributions. Hey, I know... find a newbie and teach them how to clean a chain or change a tire in Sheldon's honor. Or better yet, successfully explain gear inches to them.

Long live Sheldon! (both of them)

BTW - CS - For probably the first 3mo I thought you and Sheldon Brown were the same. It was very confusion for me to hear that SB did IM

There's a tribute site set up. Some folks are leaving memorials on the guestbook linked to Harris Cyclery as well.
