ok, so I have 1 week left to sign up for REV3 - I want to do the Olympic - however, I am not sure if I should or not, so I am looking for some opnions.

I have gotten up to ~2000 yds swimming, so that shouldn't be a problem.

I have a decent run base, having done several 10K+ runs, including the Groton 10K in early April. However, I have been having problems with the ball of my right foot, where it gets numb/painful after about 4.5 miles...doesn't matter if I run continuously or take walk breaks...I am working with my doctor/PT on it, and while it appears to be getting better, not sure it would be 100% come race day, so am considering the Aquabike.

Now, riding is another story...I have done 1 long ride (2+ hours) and have 3 more on the schedule prior to the race. However, I have to travel for work May 17-20 and May 23-25 to San Diego and am not sure how I will recovery after those cross country trips. Plus, I will not be on my bike while I am away.

REV3 is a HILLY course (did it as a relay last year)...

So, here is the dilemma - do I sign up and train as best I can and let the chips fall as they may (this is tough to do for me) or do I save my $$ and skip it this year?

Thanks!!

If I were already signed up for it, I might see if I could switch to the aquabike and give my foot more rest. Knowing that there was a good chance the run would be really uncomfortable might be more anxiety than I'd want to deal with, especially after a ride like the one at Quassy. If I weren't already signed up, I might take a pass.

Without having a run to do after, you could go out on the bike course & really give it all you've got. You've already ridden this course once and raced this course once.

BUT, if your heart's not invested in this one, train and recover the best you can and live to race another day.

unless you're really in the mood to suffer, I might skip this one this year. (in fact, since *I* am not in the mood to suffer, I am skipping it this year, I withdrew).

I'd look for a cheaper oly later in the year after you figure out what's going on with your foot.
