Oh yes, she was lovely. Probably even better as I missed out last week due to being in France.

So all back from the tour now and the reality of working life has been a horrid 2 days.

This afternoon I have a job interview, strange situation as 2 months ago leaving my current role was not really in my plans. Now it is all I think about.

Oh training, 28 miles or so on the bike with MrsG this morning. Minute sets and racing the hills made for a hard gig.

Good luck with the Interview Gobi. Hope you had fun watching the Tour up close!

DW got an unbelievable deal on some Asics Gel-Kinsei 2 shoes the other day. Retail $179 (some sites have them for $229 !!), marked down to $99, she added a GU to get it over $100 total and $25 off that made the shoes $74. Top of the line Asics.

DW is in Dallas today, heading to Wichita tomorrow to spread her mom's ashes on the old family farm.

3 slow recovery miles for me this morning at 9:49 pace. Almost bagged it and rolled over but decided to get in a few.

Bill, what site has that Asics deal? I just bought a pair from Roadrunner because my local stores didn't have any trainer in yellow and I needed to replace my old Brooks Glycerins.

Mariposai, I would like to think I have begun training for Twin Cities, but I seem to be in a rut, stuck at a ceiling of 40 mile weeks, and after that I get very fatigued. Difficult to train for an early fall marathon here in TX.

Ribs,

That was an in store mark down at Sports Authority combined with a $25 off $100 coupon. I don't think you'll find this online. And it was one color only of the Asics Kinsei 2's - a sort of rose/pink color that I like a lot but apparently they must have had an abundance of.

Gobi, good luck! Ribs, I can't compare with earlier versions of the Glycerins because I haven't run in them, but I love the 8's. In fact, I took my new pair out for a misty morning run. It felt great to get out there again, and this weather is crazy, in a good way! A month from now the red clay soil will be baked like pottery.

I'm cautiously optimistic that I can return to easy running for the next few days, and then we'll see as far as hill reps or tempo runs. There was a moment near the end of the run when I started to turn up to a somewhat hilly street and my hip flexor didn't like that, so I knew that was a good time to head back home. The most important thing at this point is that I arrive healthy at the start of our Cascade Lakes Relay, exactly 3 weeks from today.

KS, her brother is going with her so she'll be fine. The farm is really 4 hours out of Wichita That's the nearest "big" city so they're meeting family and staying at a hotel there.

Good luck at Rattlesnake tomorrow, JJJ! My Rattlesnake Point run tomorrow will only be 12.7K, and I'm hoping to do better than last year's 1:25 time (lots of nasty, slippery rocks and steep slopes).

2 miles, with a few strides at the end, on the work TM before hitting my desk.

Have a great weekend everyone. Good luck to everyone else racing! Stay cool!

Good afternoon friends. DH and I took a sweaty spin class and then bought whopper sandwiches at the nearby A&P. I had turkey, muenster, avocado, and lettuce with pesto mayo. Yum! It's still hazy, hot & humid here but they're predicting thunderstorms for tomorrow so hopefully that will bring down the temps.

Best of luck to the weekend racers. JJJ, we want to hear all about your 50K! Jeez, I can hardly do 5K! You're my inspiration.

Good morning.

Wishing Gobi a successful interview. Nice shopping for MrsBreeger. TripJay, enjoy your 50k (wow). Welcome back to Skip. I love hugging babies, TW.

One of these days I will learn to get a good night's rest the night before a long run instead of whopping it up. We took an out-of-town friend to a street dance and while I stuck to primarily water, I was dragging this morning on very little sleep. DH was also exhausted from shoveling 7,000 pounds of rock and dancing last night. So the long run wasn't pretty with too much walking but we managed to stagger through the 11 miles of gravel and over 1700' in ascent and a nearly equal amount of descent. Miles 7 & 8 were particularly difficult when a rogue band of horseflies decided to torment us. Now I understand why horses will roll around on their backs to try to cover themselves with dust or dirt.

I'll be offline for a couple of days to attend a running club retreat.

GL Gobi.

Sounds like fun Choovie!

I went to my once a year sneaker store trip - a Saucony outlet store I usually get a couple pair of Triumphs at . . . They had NONE in stock!!!! I think the outlet guy said they were between versions - ran out of 6's and trying to get the 7's in. I was also dreaming they'd have the new kinvara in the store - but it just came out and they won't see it for 6 - 8 months. So, I picked up a pair of Ride 2's to try them out - great price - and if I don't like them, they should be good enough for winter TM runs . . .

Anyways . . . a late report for an early 6:15am run. 10 miles at 8:10 pace. Would have liked to get to 8:00 pace, but it was a bit early and humid for me . . . but 5 - 10 degrees cooler than runs earlier in the week.

CNY's running Boilermaker??? GL! GL to JJJ too! And any other racers!

Hi all...rest day for me, will be running in my favorite race tomorrow, Sikiyou Outback 15K @ Mt. Ashland, hoping for 1:45, same as the last time I ran it in 2007. 6500 - 7500 feet, so good training for CLR

Good luck JJJ & Heme at your snake infested races.........and speaking of snakes......I've worked, backpacked, ran, hiked, camped, etc. outside most all of my life. Used to see rattlesnakes fairly regularly back in the day......not so much anymore (can't find appropriate sadness smiley in new smiley list)

Welcome back (in advance) Tamster...cause I know this'll be the first place you go when you get home (can't find platonic happiness smiley either)

I'm home and someone rearranged the place in my absence. . . . i'm sure I'll get used to it, but it takes an oldie like me a bit longer to adjust to change. . .

Had a great time at the youth camp I was at this week. It was my son's camp - for 2nd - 5th graders. It was HOT - upper 90's/low 100's - but alot of shade/trees at this camp so we didn't bake too much. The afternoon swimming each day was a nice reprieve. Didn't get in much running. I did get up early one morning and another highschool counselor joined me for 3.3 miles. It was at the same location as the running camp I did the week before, so it was a hilly trail run. But our days were almost non-stop busy from 7 a.m. to 11 p.m., so I got in tons of walking, running back and forth from our tipi villages to the main dining/gathering area each day. So probably 4+ miles of 'jogging' around the camp area each day.

Glad to be home though and in an air conditioned house.

(thanks John - it was actually the 2nd place I checked - after emails, so you were close. Good luck tomorrow!)

1st day of running after 4 days of kayaking and canoeing. Running on the road from the camp to the highway was out of the question. The deerflies and horseflies were the size of parakeets. Running in anything less than armor would have rendered me bloodless.

Today I ran 5 miles at the track. No watch. Miles 1 and 5 were really easy except for the 4*100m striders. 90 and humid but no sun while I was running, otherwise IRC, jtwwli.

Threw the discus about 10 times today, and almost all of my throws were right down the middle of the sector. A couple of bad releases but the feet are where they're supposed to be, and the core is strong enough to pull the rest of me with them. That's after 30 throws yesterday.

My '10,000 meters on the track and discus double' is just two weeks from today. My discus throwing is going to be just fine, but the 10,000 meters is going to be tough. 8:00 AM track race, hoping the discus throw is late in the day.

Nice discus tossing bty! I think it's so cool that you still do it. Every time I workout at the track and the kids are pole vaulting, I think it would be fun to join them. But then I remember I broke my tailbone in HS when my pole snapped during an attempt. It still hurts today.

Welcome back Tamster! I see you found the new place. We're hoping to add some decor soon. Btw, do you know if they are really going to have a GP half marathon this year? There is no sign up information yet.
