I am indeed doing nothing, it has been easier than you think. The only tough thing is the weather outside is calm and sunny, granted it is cold but why do I get lovely weather on a rest day.

You too, Gobi! Good luck this weekend!

Today will be a semi slacker day....... should hit the gym later this aft' for some core/ab/hip strengthening.

Ice and extra exercises seem to be doing wonders for the knee. It feels better today than it has in about a month, and that's after two good days of running. Yay!

Hi Gobi and Heme and others who follow!

My plan today is a hybrid of Gobi/Heme: resting with donuts and gym stuff later. My PT has me doing eccentric strengthening for my knee woes, and I need the contraptions at the gym to do them properly.

tw, she has good genes.

Gobi, I'm with you. We're getting 5-8" of powder as I type. Today was a planned rest day anyway, which is good because I have a nagging pain just below my right ankle, on the outside. I think some eccentric footfalls in the slush and snow yesterday may have caused it. Anyway, the plan is for 22 miles tomorrow. Should be an adventure.

Had to re-read gobi's post twice. He said he was doing nothing. I figured my eyes deceived me. . .

good morning doing-nothing-gobi; semi-slacker Heme; contraption lovin' duck; personal trainer Claire, trainee Tom; and resting mike.

Since the backdoc called for a rest day from running yesterday, I just did about 40 min in the evening lovin' on my foamroller, and doing several long sustained stretches and about a bazillion crunches. well, maybe not that many. I lost count.

hopefully I'll get in a run after work this evening while there is still some daylight. I'm really liking that at 5:30 there is still a bit of daylight left. Figure if I leave work at 4:30 I can try and get in about an hours worth of running.

Greetings from Ft Lauderdale!! Another day of sunshine and 80s.

Opie, I was listening to a discussion on the radio the night before about JFK's speech and was thinking about that as I was running. What a coincidence.

This morning I was starting to feel the effects of all the running I have been doing so I started off at a comfortable pace with the plan of doing about 6 miles. I made a slight detour to the beach but turned around when it would have been impossible to really run in the loose sand and got back on the street. I turned around at 24:27 figuring I had about 3 miles in. I started to pick up the pace on the way back as I got warmed up and the return trip only took 20:20. I had forgot about the little sidetrip when I was surprised at the time so the return was 2.9 miles. Ended up with 5.9 miles in 44:47 (7:35 pace). I feel so good after the shorter run I am probably going for another 5 miles this evening.

Howdy ya'll, I've got 5 miles planned for after work. Nice and esy so I am ready to run 20 on Saturday morning. I have a running partner all lined up..a 30 something antagonist from the PRT.

Resting today. They just sent me the course map for the 5k tomorrow, and it's in a neighborhood across the street from one of the Y branches here, where I haven't run. I ran it through the USATF map site and it has some easy rolling hills so that's fine and my general knowledge of the area is that it's fairly flat. AG awards are 1st & 2nd only so it'll be interesting to see who shows up and it didn't say if they're using the typical 45-49, etc.

I started off with a donut today in honor of all resting Kicksters. Tomorrow I am going to attempt my first cross country event (5k). I'm a bit nervous!

John, thanks for the invite but it won't work for me this time. DS has a basketball game mid morning and I'm just going to try and fit in a run whenever it works, so not really sure on the time, or if it'll even be tomorrow or Sunday.

Yay Dove!

Remember, the key to a 5K is to start out fast, then run faster. And embrace the puke.

I want to run a 5K too, dammit. Oh well, maybe sometime this year...

Go Dove! Is it a grass course? I think with your experience in trails this should be a piece of cake.

I looked at my pacing in that solo time trial I did last month, and it was all jacked up. I violated your rule, Lab, because I started out fast and finished slow, about 10k pace. I think if I run the first mile a little over 8, it should go even better.
