That was easy.

Of course you can still discuss injuries in the main thread, but consider this the Honeycomb hideout for all things fuckity (medically speaking).

I've had full thickness cartilage defects on the "knuckle" at the end of my femur, it makes my running bone-on-bone and absolutely prevents me from biking or using an elliptical machine. This happened several years ago and I've learned to live with it, 45 of my 50 marathons have been with the injury.

There are no good medical or surgical options at this time. All are risky, require very long recoveries, and have a decent chance that I'll end up worse.

But after Sunday's marathon I've had a post-race recovery that is much worse. It's very painful to walk, very hard to sleep. After going grocery shopping and hobbling around pushing the cart I'm just sitting down and wincing.

Hippo I'm so sorry to hear that man. I hope things turn around for you, even though I'd take that marathon finish time any day. I really hope this muscle pull in my quad is just temporary. I think my flexibility has gone to hell. I feel like I am too young to be this brittle.

I can't believe I JUST saw this. It's been almost two weeks for me off running. I have very bad ITBS. Got a cortisone shot on Wednesday and am allowed to try to run again on Wednesday of next week. I will be taking it slow and will have to start by running only a mile or two at a time.

IT SUCKS. Thankfully, I am a cyclist and swimmer (sort of) also, so at least I can do that.

Update - ran 2 miles today and it felt OK. It got a little tight and might be just a little sore. I am supre-sensative to it now, so it's hard to tell just how sore it is. I am really trying harder to listen to my body and pay attention when things hurt. Unlike before, when I told my body to shut the hell up, and I just kept running. STUPID!!! I am trying to turn over a new leaf and be smart about my training. Quality over quantity.

Wow..just saw this JB...thanks so much for setting this up!!

Chin up all you injured runners.

MIne is my IT and PF..it sucks. but things seem to be better for me mentally this time around. It helps to have a better grasp of things going on in my body and what is causing this. Now just to find the right course of treatment!

Had graston on Monday (2/1 and ran 3 pain free miles last night
(2/19) have 2 miles on the schedule for tonight.

Good luck everyone!

How is everyone doing??

Abb, did you have a graston/art appt yet?? I can not remember which one your gal does??

My graston is holding up, another pain free run last night followed by some core and yoga stretches. I actually found one on here that stretches the outside of the upper thigh so well!! It feels great! A runner friend of mine sent me some pages out of her Runners Repair Manual this wk....a section in there on feet, is very interesting. I think I may order the book for myself.

This weekend will be the real test when I go 4 and 6, the last 2wks I was having pain with anything over 3...we will see how it goes!!

Wishing everyone some relief right now. Hang in there!!

ooh. my kind of thread.

2 weeks ago, I was taking the boys out for lunch. Before leaving, I jumped on my 7 yo's scooter for a couple of nice sweeping runs down the driveway. #3 ended up with the wheel catching the edge of the driveway and me taking a nice tumble. Should've been an easy one, but I guess I'm old now. A perfect demonstration to the kids why I require them to wear a helmet - giant bump on the head - in addition to a couple of bruised ribs. The pain has subsided a bit so hoping they're not broken, though i do get some popping around in the cartilage area. I broke quite a few of them 15 years ago and recall it being much more painful. Though the first 3-4 days felt the same.

Brilliant move dad. DS won't let me use his scooter anymore

I hate that we have to have this thread but thanks for doing it JB. I'm not sure what I'm dealing with yet but I'll know tomorrow morning. I'm fairly certain it's a torn meniscus and tendonitis in the patellar tendon from running on an unstable knee for two months. Either way, I'm not able to run, bike, swim, etc until I get it fixed. It's very painful and frustrating!

The cool thing is that I got some great stuff to look at from the MRI.

Sorry about all these injuries guys. Mine seem to pale in comparison. I just feel like I've lost flexibility and it seems like my range of motion is more restricted these days in my hips. I guess I'll just keep plugging and hope everything works itself out. I can certainly blame myself for dropping the ball on PT lately. I have had so little time and not much desire to add another hour to my routine every day, but I know I should at least try to get it done 3 days a week so that's what I'll shoot for. Nice MRI Sisu!

Welcome Outthere! Hope you are feeling better!

Sisu...cool pic! Please keep us posted with your knee!! I have been thinking about you and am worried about you and your knee!

JB; What happened with PT?? I must have missed it!! I think yoga would help with your flexibilty issues!! just sayin!!

Andi: (((((HEALING VIBES))) for that foot!! I HOPE it is something simple and no injury!!

Abb: how is your it band doing?? Remember to cut back with that running while it is healing!! I know it is hard!!

Well I have not had any more graston appts and my knee seems to be holding up fairly well!! I did run at the arena on Monday night and lets just say my knee felt fuckity that night durring my run!! I know my IT/PF starts with my rigid foot and all the other biomechanical problems that go along with it BUT I am begining to realize that the track messes it up further. The last 2x I ran on the track before graston I had lots of pain! I guess I will need to break down and get that treadmil! But I feel better this time knowing I have a better grasp of what is going on down there and a better plan of action!!

Wishing you all some speedy healing......Stay strong!!
Thanks ANDI, I have heard of that too. The only problem with the track is that they have directions posted as to what days you go what direction..when I am the only one or two on it, it is not a problem to go opposite midway thru, but when there are more then that I am continually having to dodge people!! I think I just need to avoid that place like the plague!!

BATMOMM...WTH.....is wrong????? Do not say your IT BAND!!!!
