Hello My Pretties,

so I have this clock. It is a wonderful clock. It has a chip inside of it that has some kind of link to a satellite. When the power goes off in the middle of the night, the clock adjusts to real time when the power comes back on. Cool Huh?! Yes, well it nearly cost my family and I are races for the day....This year extended day light hours end on November 4th not on the Saturday before Hallowe'en. So the clock fell back an hour and we didn't. Got Up and Ran out the door with my husband and 3 boys in tow.

so I didn't eat. I drank. And I had a pack of sports beans in the car that I divided up amongst the passengers of the very fastly moving Mommy Porsche ( Mini Van). We get to the race. I was to start a 10K at 8:55. Husband and DS#2 were to start 5K at 9:10, and Ds#3 was going to run 1K at 10:30

The race was very well organized. It is the fifteenth year for this charity hospital event. However, 300 people must have been waiting for the weather forcast to predict fair weather, because they all decided to register the morning of...

Lucky for me that meant that the starts were delayed by fifteen minutes each. I apologize to all the people that I passed in line who were waiting for their timing chip. I just wanted to get in to pick up 4 race packs and that wasn't what the line was for anyways. Really, I am sorry.

Get my race pack, get in line for the timing chip. Get that on. Go stand in line and waited all of five minutes and we were off.

It was cold, though. 3*C windchill of -2. That's 37.4*F windchill of 28.4*F for all you Americans Imperialists. I wore gloves and a baseball cap, long sleeve Tech Shirt and 3/4 capris.

Everything was super. I was picking people off. Love that! The sixty minute pacer was slow on the first K. because of the crowd and took off like a bat out of hell after that. That's fine. I didn't see her again.

Up until 5.5k it was fine. No problems. Good pace. Good breathing. No pain. But mostly...I had under 60 minutes in site. It was all possible up until then. Remember how I rushed out. Well... i didn't bring my fuel belt with me and I rushed out of the house. When the first water station came in site i knew i'd have to grab a cup, which I did. But i was too stubborn to stop. So I sipped, and sipped and splashed on myself and when i swallowed it went down the wrong tube. Cut off my air. Splutter splutter. Cough Cough. AHem! Hork! SPIT! "Gross!" and yes I actually said that. Needless to say, I couldn't catch my breath after that. I had to stop and walk. Catch my breath. spit again. and then I took off again. All told, it probably didn't take more than 12 seconds...but after that my breathing was labored and off.

The Thrill of picking people off was what kept me in it. I was happy when I picked off Intense Face Man. Yellow Skinny Dude was a little disappointing. But Short Green Chick put up a valiant fight. I got her with 1. 7 k left to spare. That was Golden!! Then I just pushed it as much as I could to see how close to 60 i could get.

Oh and I gave a big Hero Cheer just after the finish line. Photographer said he got it...we will see.

I wanted to come in under 60 minutes. I missed that mark.
I also wanted to keep each mile under the 10min/mile mark for pacing. I managed to accomplish that.

I ran this race last year. It rained and Sleeted that day. It was my first race evah! I really disappointed myself because i stopped and i walked quite a bit, but i was proud of myself for covering the distance. My chip time was 1:13:22.

Today the wind was cold on the back side of the course. The tear in my left eye never really stopped stinging in the last 4 K. That's fine it was well worth it. I came in at 1:01:00. New PR! by 12:22 minutes. I'm good with that. Suits me fine.

Oh! and Husband and DS#2 came in at 34 minutes and change. DS#2's first race! He was happy as can be.

DS#3 loved doing the Jiggle me Bones, but was pissed that there was no time record of it. LOOK AT HIM FLY!

REally, by this time we were freezing our assets off!
