Team rosters: see below.

Registration now closed. The first day of the game is Friday, January 4.

Please take the time to read this thread.

SherpaJ Day:
The fifth day of this round (Jan 8th) is deemed SherpaJ Day. Stay tuned for the SherpaJ Day proclamation thread. Individuals can earn 5 extra points on this day by scoring at least one VRAA point, and making a post within the SherpaJ Day proclamation thread.

The race to Surf City:
The VRAA "race-within-the-race" is the race to Surf City (Huntington Beach, CA), 6,192 miles from the start. Teams will be awarded bonus points, based on arrival at Surf City, on the following scale:

1st place: 900 pts
2nd-3rd: 750 pts
4th-6th: 600 pts
7th-8th: 450 pts
9th-10th: 300 pts
II. Reporting

There will be a scoring thread for each day of the round. Post your points in the following manner:

Run 4 miles = 16
Cycle 10 miles = 15
Alternate workout 25 minutes = 5

36 points for Team Z

There is no advantage to posting early. Points posted late in the day score the same as those posted the next day. Also, please keep the chatter out of the scoring threads. We have over 150 players - help our volunteers by keeping the scoring threads clear of the unnecessary stuff.

I'd like to thank each and every one of you for participating in the VRAA. We try not to take it too seriously around here. If you feel like you've earned some VRAA points, then post it and claim it. Be a good sport. Most of us do not think about scoring VRAA points outside of the main workout(s) of the day (some of you crazies do doubles.) That being said, wearing a pedometer to count every waking step is not within the spirit of this game.

The spirit of the VRAA is to encourage you to do that little bit extra, during your workouts, on a daily basis. We've found that in being part of a team is an added bonus to the experience. While there can only be one "VRAA Champion," we believe that everyone wins when they join the VRAA.

Have fun, and don't hurt yourself out there.

Sincerely,
~roots

A couple housekeeping announcements:

- I am pleased to announce that we are able to award the top 3 teams at the end of the round. Proposed titles:

VRAA Champion - Gold Medalist

VRAA Silver Medalist

VRAA Bronze Medalist

- We have a data entry system in the works. Be prepared for new and innovative changes to the score reporting. The system will make everyone's life a little easier -- enabling automated and more frequent updates to the standings and leaderboard. Stay tuned for the implementation plan. Your captains will have information soon.

If some team's badassery makes it to SLC with a few days left, we'll add on something or another (I hear southern Utah has some pretty dazzling sights for the eyes for certain )

You'll be passing about one mile from my home as you come up Redwood Highway and head into Grants Pass. Maybe I'll see if my son and his buddies can have an aid station for y'all!

*bump*

Two days left in VRAA #6. In reading this thread again, I am amazed by how far we've come in the last 30 days.

Congratulations to all who played along this round. If the VRAA caused you to do that little bit extra, I think we've done our job. Overall, the team camaraderie was better than ever this round. To have 11 full teams is incredible.

Two more days to determine the medals. Who's it going to be?

Have fun.
