I just bought DH a garmin 305 for xmas. Can it be set up for two users? We browsed the instruction book and did not see anything about that. Thanks.

You can set up different profiles in the Garmin Training Center software (free d/l from Garmin website). I know that's not quite the same.

If you are both runners, I wonder if one of you could set the watch to runner mode and the other one to "other sport" mode. That way, you'd know which workouts belonged to who in an easy way. If your DH is a cyclist, then he would just record his workouts for cycling and that would be easy too.

So, I think there are workarounds but I don't think (as you surmised) there are multiple profiles allowed. That would be a really great enhancement for Garmin to add.

unfortunately you can not set it up for two runners and if you did use it for two people using the same settings. The you wouldn't be able to use all the fancy features. Such as HR training, you both are different I am sure.

Sorry, it would be nice though.

Hey Meri - I know that I sound like a broken record with this Ascent software thing (you could use the "ignore" feature ) but I asked at the Ascent message board about two users in Ascent. Rob told me that I needed to create a new user in OS X. It was easy, and now Mrs hup & I change users to access our separate profiles in Ascent. If you and Mr meri are sharing the watch, you'd need to download everything and then delete his (or him delete your) data from your (his) log.
I solved that by buying Mrs hup her own Forerunner
Happy New Year!
