Well, the tally for your outstanding pushing-upping for the first week is complete, and I swear I've posted it, but the Sunday numbers aren't showing up on my machine here. I'll give it an hour or two to come around and try again.

Anyhow: Week One's Men's Interim-Type-Champion-Guy is Skip "anybody seen Skip?" AZ with 1275 no-foolin' plank pushups. No new-fangled dips or millstones for this guy. Cap'n Sally says, "Arrrrr!"

Consistently amazing friends and colleagues alike, the Interim-Type-Champion-Gal is Hally, moderatrix extraordinare. Her 706 pushup points, like Skip's, came from lots and lots of consistent plank-type-pushups day after day.

The Metronomic Consistency Award goes to Labduck for his 7x50 pushups day in and day out. Thanks for the help with the data entry, buddy.

Patrick, if you keep increasing your numbers at this rate, you'll need all day to do those pushups! (80, 50, 156, 240, 400!)

Please give our upper-body upperclassmen a hand, and then turn around and give yourself one. I dunno about you, but my measly 80 knee pushups last week is more than I've ever, like, ever done. So that's improvement.

For those new to the challenge: This is an effort to get everyone moving that upper body. Points are awarded as follows:

Knee Pushup Men .5, Women 1
Plank Pushup Men 1, Women 2
Chinups or Dips Men 2, Women 4
Pullups Men 3, Women 6

At the end of all this silliness (two more weeks, Skip), I will award $50 to the Flat-Coated Retriever Foundation on behalf of the male and female winners in memory of Storm, who died of just one of the many cancers haunting this breed.

Two more weeks and I think I'll be doing lip-ups, my shoulders will be so ground down.

Awright ... awright, so maybe the nose will get in the way just a tad.

Thanks Sal! And congrats to Skip, the pu king!

I am going to have to step it up I think this week, you'd think there would be a tiny twinge of pain. Guess I'll add another twenty right now, with one leg on top of the other

OK, I see that the men's average is not too far from the wimmen's. That's with gimpy shoulders and other issues. So, for the sake of bringing up the lady's average I resolve to do as many sets of push-ups this week as I do rehab exercises. Between me and 'cono this should even out the odds.
Think I'm gonna pass on the pushups this week, pretty much in general, because as I was doing them last week, I remembered why I had stopped in the first place. Having an unstable shoulder joint (which having surgery on several years ago didn't do a thing for, unfortunately), it tends to get injured quite easily. Not worth risking, if you ask me. My chest and upper body seem to be quite strong enough from all the body-weight yoga I do (plank, chaturanga, handstand, forearm balance, etc.), so I think I'm gonna stick with the static, instead of dynamic, exercises. It's kinda nice to be smart for a change, eh?

So everyone else, continue doing a greta job on the pushups, and stay injury-free!

.....My Only Fear
is that the Winners will develope
a Freakishly Massive Upper Body
and be totally unsuited for Running Sports,

due to
tipping over too easily

tomwhite, your concern is touching. Now drop and give me 45.

Updated tally is posted, as it usually should be around this time each morning. Skip, look out! Patrick is still behind in the overall standings, but he's made an outstanding start to the week! Hally and Aija are at the top of the women's standings - one with a strategy of repeated simplicity, and one with a strategy of "confuse the tally-taker until she just gives you the points." It's working, A. (p.s. your workouts are very, very impressive).

I did 3 sets of 10 girlie style pushups last night, so 30 pts from the Tamster!

I got in 20 at home this AM, and am in the middle of a set of 2X20 here on my late shift at work. They are one leg over the other ones. I may start doing down, lift one arm, down, lift the other arm to mix it up a little

Will add them to the proper thread later.

OM, you are smart to stop, hope you didn't reinjure anything.

Updated. Good going, Tammy! JustThisOnceJustForYou, I stuck the 30 excellent pushups into the spreadsheet, but given my pre-caffeinated state most days, putting them anywhere but the XT thread for the week is risky.

Patrick. You. Are. A. Machine.

I did some nice knee pushups on Tuesday, but that shoulder is still twinging when I swim. Dagnabit.

Thanks Sal. I like it when special exceptions are made for me

I put the 23 pushups I did last night into my updated weekly running/XT thread. Is that where I'm supposed to put them?

Thanks for your patience, everyone. It's updated. This week's challenge will close tonight - for my sake, and for that of dear Soucilina, please update your tallies so we can start recognizing all your hard work!
