Googogogogogo Ail!! Sorry to hear about the leg, Duck...I hope it heals quickly and you have access to good drugs? Hope the calf is just a little crampy thing and not a big deal, Tim. (ETA: whoops...meant Bob. Thought Bob, typed Tim..)

TM--funny that should be the question..I was super sick of my TM after this winter but it's been storming like a car wash in the last few days (I love Brandy's rainmaggedon). I managed to run between raindrops yesterday, but today I'm gonna be stuck inside for 8 this AM--only time I can and it's storrmmyyy.

Tomorrow I race a 5k in the stupid hot--I wonder if it won't be called. I signed up for it after beer, too...HAHAHAHAHA. Forecast is close to 90 and 85% humidity at the start (a 9 a.m. start...really?) Asbean' since it's only a 5k, I'm guessing it will happen. I like hot, but I'll be honest...this sounds like a world of pain.

(Maybe I should run in the sauna today to prep for it??)

Anyone doing the apocolypse thing? 5kx 4x's this weekend? I originally thought it was only Saturday so didn't sign up but now am thinking it may be kinda fun to try...

8 done. Stupid hot. DIdn't have enough water. Stomach started growling half way through. Legs ache from the butt tape. Had to take a few walk breaks in the 2nd half.

Even with all the walk breaks, I only finished 3 minutes slower than where I thought I'd be, so I must have been keeping an ok pace when I was running.

Owowowowowow, Kath but good 8..it's ridiculously humid out there. Hey...just a thought...body glide doesn't always work for me for some reason--I now use something called chamois cream. I get it Walgreens. Much better and makes my skin feel really soft, too.

So, it stopped storming, thank goodness. I had to run 8, too. It's only 72, but 95% humidity and somehow put in 11--I just felt good and was going slow enough that I thought "why not add on that little 3 miler, too?"

I'm gonna pay for that tomorrow, methinks. :)

STAY COOL, everyone. It's going to get ridiculous if it's not already.

Hey all, I slept in this morning. After 2 back-to-back longish runs, my legs/hips are a little sore. And I slept funky the other night so I have a really annoying crick in my neck. Gah. I'll do pilates today and maybe do a very easy recovery run. Or I'll skip it.

GOGOGOGOGO racers!

Enjoy your vacations and happy belated anniversary Tim.

Kath that sucks. Body Glide usually always works perfect for me - I only have problems when I forget it or miss a spot.

Have good runs and a fabulous weekend.

FUN: I just signed up for the Packers 5K for my birthday weekend. All four of us and some friends will go up to do it.

Morning all

Interval w/o this morning. 8 hill repeats followed by 1.5 at tempo. 4 hill repeats and another 1.5 at tempo. Luckily it stayed overcast. It went well I think. Still need to review my splits.

Good luck tomorrow Melissa! I'll just be doing a long run and then picking out my leg for Ragnar!

Well, I made it thru the airport 5k without any pain. That's a good thing.

The bad thing is that this was probably the best weather I've seen at this race (this is the 6th year I've done it). So it would have been ideal conditions to try for a PR in. But my calf muscle was still barking at me. If I tried to race it, I probably would've hurt myself and ended up getting really annoyed. Instead, I ran with a friend who was running the third race of his life. I don't think I'd ever run this easy in a race before. But it worked, because my calf didn't bother me at all. Our finish time was 28:something, which is probably 5 minutes slower than I've ever been in a 5k before. (I'll have to check the log to see for sure). But that's perfectly okay. We had fun and I came out of it unscathed, so it's all good.

I even bumped into another friend that I only see occasionally. He ran the race with his girlfriend, who is 2.5 months pregnant. And she beat me by half a minute or so. So I think this is the first time I ever got beat by a pregnant lady.

Well, I've got another 5k race on Wednesday. Hopefully I'll be fully healed by then and I can give it my all. I know I won't be able to get a PR, because that course is too hilly and the race is too crowded. But I'd just like to give it full effort.

I'm sorry you midwesterners are having such hot and humid weather. It's beautiful here in Jersey...

Thanks for the hugs and the awws Kath and Crane!

No percocet today, just a few ibuprofen and some baby aspirin (anti-clotting). I think I'm past the painful stage. I have even done a little driving.

8 miles for me. Tough conditions here, but not as nasty has RIL had it! 88F, 42% humidity here with the dewpoint at 62. Took a few walk breaks in the last 2.5-3 miles trying to keep my heart rate out of the upper 170s. Now I'm going to go watch the end of The Open.

when you wake up in Minnesota and all of your windows are fogged up from the humidity and it is 79 at 500 a.m....it is going to be a hard day out there.

I did 3 easy peasy miles before meeting up with the group. 10 miles with the group at a 940 pace. felt ok but man oh man, was I ever a schweaty mofo. Soaked head to toe including squishing shoes. I easily dropped 7 lbs or so in water weight. I drank 32 oz of water, 24 oz of gatorade, a recovery drink and ate a bar and I was still 4 lbs down when I got home. Yikes!

I am for sure moving all of my longer/harder runs to the morning this week.

due to weather conditions, I was also short of my 50 mpw minimum goal...not by much but man it bugs me.

congrats to craney and bob on their 5ks.

brandy, nice work! WOOT! almost hitting 50 in the weather you've been facing is impressive!

kp, remind me waht your next race is? GR?

i got 5.28 done but in not nearly as awful conditions as the rest of you. hoping to be able to successfully start ramping things up a bit (and by that, i mean run closer to 25 mpw, lmao) to get some sort of base going.

Rest up, Bob!! Nice running in awful, Kev, RIL and Brandy and Missy..heal up, Duck!!

5k done...easily the hottest race I've ever run---heat index around 103-04. A lot of people must not have shown up for this...the field was small.

27:40 on my watch, dunno official yet, nowhere near a PR, but I'll take whatever. We must have passed 20 people the end and it felt like we were giving it our all.

I'm not sure why, but they started this race at 9 AM and had no water for runners beforehand and no electrolyte drink..?? Not normally a big deal for a 5k, but today they should have thought this out a bit better. Nice course though and small field...recommended if they move the time.

After we were done, we were lying spread out in the grass, literally trying not to throw up, beet red, soaked from head to toe, still gasping and someone was trying to hand us race flyers for something. Uh...??? My friend said, "unless that's an IV, no thanks."

That's funny.I am impressed with those of you who braved the heat and humidity. I did 5 this afternoon but stuck to the TM at the gym.
