I'm faster with it....but only for short distances.....over the long haul, I can go farther in the same time without it.

What's with the "wait for it"? Do threads with polls show up initially without the poll?

I'm way faster with the buoy - or when wearing a wetsuit. I have "dense" runners legs, inflexible ankles, and a lousy kick. Which means I normally slow myself down when kicking/dangling legs. With the added buoyancy of buoy/wetsuit, I'm much higher/more horizontal in water - and faster. Fewer strokes/length too.

You post first...submit it...then add a poll...

I love the buoy! I swim faster and easier. Without it, I'm a sinker with a useless kick. I have to kick like a mad woman to try and stay afloat. Not a pretty sight.

I am faster with it. It also helps me use less strokes as well. Sounds funny but I guess it makes sense.

If your faster with the buoy, then you need to work on your kick, your balance and your position in the water.
If your about the same, you need to work on your balance.
If your faster without it, you should use it to reinfoce good body position when you have longer sets.

Dave....
remember the kick on side drill.....
that's balance work.

There's a variation of that where you keep both arms at your side as well.
You can do it arm up and arm down looking a bit down at the bottom as well.

Also remember the conversation about feeling as if you're swimming downhill? That's related to balance.
