What are you giving your significant other for Valentine's Day? Running-related or otherwise?

My DH loves the mountains and we go to the Adirondacks regularly for hiking trips. So I got him a puzzle made out of a beautiful, giant poster of the Adirondacks. I also got him some new socks for his favorite spinning class. And of course the sappiest, mushiest card I could find.

Someone already mentioned flowers for their DW. Anyone else?

Today would have been my dad's 74th birthday. My mom is taking it very hard. My dad ran 6 marathons in his life and is the inspiration for my running. I called my mom today and told her that I was thinking of my dad during my run this morning and that I felt his presence in a really good run. She was happy to hear that, but was kind of teary. It's a tough day for her.

Jesse, I think you should wine her and dine her while you wear that new kilt! I love it!

We don't typically do anything for Valentines. I guess we are rebels against the hallmark holiday. However, sometime around Valentines we do like to go out for dinner and since our son is going to an overnight birthday party tomorrow night, we are taking advantage of that and having a date night. Dinner & hottub evening under the starry skies.

For our son though, I bought him a couple of chapter books he's been wanting. He gets plenty of candy at the school party they are having today, so we don't usually buy any special valentines candies or chocolates.

My DH will be opening tickets to see Jackson Browne, acoustic solo. Of course, I get to go with him, so a great gift for me to give!

I have a gift to open later, when he gets home. However, he did leave me a token this morning. It is a little gift box ornament type thing, with his picture on one side, and when you push the button, it's his voice......well I'm not gonna tell what he said! But I love it!!

Rose, MrC love meatloaf -- I might have to borrow your idea next year. Too funny.

Econo, we need a pic of that raspberry pie. Yum.

Rose, until I figured out that was a "meat" loaf, I thought it was something you baked up for your dog. (Sorry). That's actually a cute idea and I might be stealing it next year.

My DH and I long ago stopped celebrating Valentine's Day. I think it's a shame what Hallmark and FTD have made of it. (Why should roses cost $100 one day a year when the other 365 days they cost 1/4th of that?). But I could surely whip up a meatloaf. (My brother's birthday is Valentine's Day and I was always jealous of his heart-shaped birthday cake my mom baked him ).

Us too! No cards or flowers... but a no-red meat meatloaf is always a crowd-pleaser!

In honor of cardiologists everywhere... Next year, I am going to add some manicotti along there for the arteries and some penne for the veins....yep, eventually I will re-create the entire circulatory system in food.
